A month had passed since the blood merger, and the Stormvale estate had finally begun to settle back into its old rhythm. The echoes of business meetings, the laughter of servants in the corridors, and the soft hum of family dinners returned as if nothing had ever happened.

He turned toward his wife and son, his tone low but firm. “There’s a secret door behind those bookshelves,” he said, gesturing toward the far wall. “It leads outside the estate. If things get bad… you go through that door, understand?”
