Daniel walked over as the crowd thinned out, his voice deep but gentle.

Emily wasn’t surprised by the outcome. Watching James leave without a second thought, carrying Bianca, left her feeling a bit down.

When she looked up and saw Daniel’s concerned, deep–set eyes, she suddenly felt at ease.

She smiled lightly, “Yeah, it’s all taken care of. Thanks for your patience, Mr. Smith. Let’s head back.”

Daniel didn’t push Emily for details. Since she had handled it, he wouldn’t pry.

Emily thought Daniel wasn’t as cold and ruthless as the rumors suggested. He wasn’t overly domineering either.
