“Emily, come with me!

Eli hung up the phone and strode back into the office, his tone still commanding as he addressed Emily.

“Hold on, Mr. Johnson. I know I’m younger, but I can’t just stand by and watch this. What gives you the right to treat Emily like she’s at your heck and call? What if she doesn’t want to go with you?”

Byron couldn’t hold back his frustration and spoke up.

His words were a direct insult to Eli.

Isaac, however, had been waiting for Byron to finish before he chimed in disapprovingly, “Byron, show some respect. Even if Eli is wrong, it’s not your place to say so.”

“Eli, Byron’s words may be blunt, but he’s not entirely wrong. Look at Emily–she’s exceptional. You just kicked her out of the family without any explanation, and now you expect her to follow you without question? That’s not right.”

“I truly admire Emily. I was more than willing to give her that ten percent stake in the Reyes Group. She earned it fair and square.”

Isaac was elevating Emily’s status, showing his appreciation for her.

Although he hadn’t been entirely willing to give the shares initially, Emily had brought significant returns, and Byron seemed to be thriving under her guidance. This was invaluable.

So now, his praise was genuine.

Sophia smirked and raised an eyebrow at Emily, her eyes full of admiration.

Eli knew he was bound to be embarrassed today.

His face darkened, his voice low and serious, “You can choose not to go, but it’s about your engagement to James. Are you sure you don’t want to resolve it?”

Emily had thought she was done with James, but considering his persistent harassment, and now that it had reached Kade, it was best to settle it once and for all.

‘Fine, let’s go.”

Byron immediately felt reluctant and wanted to follow.

Emily, however, didn’t let them come along and instead tasked Byron with ensuring Sophia’s safe return.

Emily and Eli left.

They found Bianca waiting by the car.

“Bianca, what are you doing here? Weren’t you supposed to be chasing after Finn?” Eli frowned, displeased.

Bianca explained, “Dad, Finn didn’t want me to follow him. He said he needed some quiet time. But don’t worry, he promised me he wouldn’t do anything foolish. Finn has never lied to me, and I trust him.”

Eli knew Finn was the most protective of Bianca among his sons, so he didn’t insist further and nodded.

“Go home and rest.

Bianca quickly got in and playfully waved him in, “Dad, I want to come along. Please?”

Eli frowned, “I’m going with Emily to discuss breaking off the engagement with the Smith family. Don’t make a fuss.”

He thought lowering his voice would keep Emily from hearing.

Emily was pleased to hear about breaking off the engagement.

Since Kade was interested, it suited her perfectly. James would finally understand that she was truly done with him.

Bianca whispered in Eli’s ear, “Dad, if we’re breaking off the engagement, we’ll lose our connection with the Smith family. Why not take me along? If I make a good impression, maybe they’ll agree to switch the engagement to me.”

Eli’s earlier concern was losing the connection with the Smith family. Bianca’s suggestion hit the mark.

“Alright, you can come.”

Eli gently patted her hand and turned to Emily, his eyes still showing disdain, “What are you waiting for? Do I have to invite you into the car personally?”

Emily didn’t bother arguing. She got in the car.

Once inside, she closed her eyes to rest.

Not long into the drive, Bianca suddenly felt nauseous and started gagging.

Eli asked worriedly, “Bianca, what’s wrong?”

“I’m fine, Dad. Maybe it’s the smell of some cheap perfume. I never feel this way in our car or when I’m with you. It’s been a while since I rode with Emily, maybe I’m just not used to it.”

Bianca was indirectly insulting Emily.

It was clearly intentional, and seeing no strong reaction from Emily, she hypocritically added, “Emily, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to say you’re using cheap perfume. I’m just worried you might have been tricked.”

Emily had planned to ignore Bianca and focus on the engagement. But Bianca was relentless.

Emily opened her eyes slightly, her gaze sharp enough to make Bianca shiver.

With so little courage, she dared to provoke her.

Emily scoffed internally. Being in the same car, she noticed something peculiar.

Considering how quickly she and James had gotten together, and now she was pregnant, while James always professed his deep love for her, Emily felt her stomach churn.

How could they make you feel sick? If you want some, you don’t have to act this way. I’ll give you a few bottles!”

Bianca sounded so aggrieved.

Eli also disapproved, looking at Emily, “Enough. Can’t you just stop targeting Bianca? Focus on your work, will you?”
