Chapter 86
Alright, James, you go ahead. I’ll be fine on my own.”
Bianca had to play the part of the understanding girlfriend, so she couldn’t keep him from leaving.
Even though she vaguely heard something about an important person on the phone, her suspicious nature made her think that James was just using this as an excuse to meet up with Emily, staging a scene with Jace for her benefit,
“Okay, I’ll be back later to keep you company!”
James nodded in satisfaction, thinking how considerate she was. If only Emily were this understanding, he wouldn’t have to scold her every time they met.
With that, James left immediately.
What he didn’t know was that as soon as he left, Bianca, who had been lying weakly in bed, suddenly became full of energy and quickly followed James‘ car.
James was driving to the address Jace had given him, unaware that Emily and Aaron were about to meet with Harold.
Harold was highly impressed with Aaron’s rapid rise. In a short time, Aaron’s company had expanded significantly, gaining nationwide recognition with its chain stores. The word–of–mouth about the effective medicines from Vanguard Innovations Group, under Aaron’s name, was spreading fast.
However, Harold knew more than most. He knew Aaron wasn’t the real boss; there was a mysterious figure behind him. To his surprise, Aaron had admitted there was indeed a more powerful boss behind him and that this person was willing to meet Harold.
When Harold saw Emily, he was taken aback. Harold, nearly thirty, was at the peak of his charm, a blend of maturity and youth. His mixed heritage gave him particularly deep–set eyes.
Looking at Emily, he couldn’t hide his admiration and surprise. “Ms. Johnson, I’ve heard so much about you. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
Emily took it as mere politeness. After all, Harold had quite a reputation with women. But she was willing to work with him because, despite his reputation, he was a reliable business partner.
“Mr. Rogers, the pleasure is mine.”
Emily smiled and shook his hand before they both sat down. The waitstaff, already prepared, began serving the dishes.
Once the table was set, they started discussing business over drinks.
“I’ve heard that Vanguard Innovations Group recently launched a new drug. I’d like to secure the exclusive distribution rights for it.”
Harold got straight to the point. Of course, he had other interests as well.
Emily smiled deeply. “Mr. Rogers, I actually have another business proposition for you.”
She had just developed new software. Although she wasn’t worried about selling it, she thought Harold’s investment would be beneficial.

Chapter 86
A
In the future, having good products on hand would enable more collaboration. Plus, only an investor of Harold’s caliber could potentially challenge the Johnson Group.
Harold raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Emily glanced at Aaron, who immediately prepared the documents. Emily handed them to Harold and then demonstrated the program model on her phone.
Although it’s in the early stages, the prospects are promising. I can guarantee that within a year, the program will perform even better than it does now and will be ready for the market.”
She could make such a promise because she had already developed it in her previous life. If she could have produced it out of thin air, she would have shortened the timeline even more.
Harold, with his insight and foresight, had already been eyeing this project. Now, it was as if Emily had handed him a golden opportunity.
After watching the demonstration, he was thoroughly impressed.
“Ms. Johnson, who is this engineer? I must meet this genius!”
Harold was excited.
Emily smiled but remained silent, her pride evident. Aaron explained with a smile, “Mr. Rogers, is it possible that this genius is Ms. Johnson herself? We trust you, which is why we’re telling you this.”
Harold, though skeptical, didn’t show it. His smile deepened, and he became even more enthusiastic towards Emily. He then asked some highly technical questions.
Emily answered fluently, even proposing more advanced ideas and using terms Harold didn’t know, dispelling his doubts.
“Ms. Johnson, I thought you were impressive for developing Vanguard Innovations Group, but I underestimated you. You’re a genius in every way.”
Harold’s praise was genuine.
The subsequent negotiations went smoothly and quickly. Harold saw Emily as a treasure, eager for more surprises from her, and was willing to make concessions. Emily, in turn, offered some new products without charging him.
Once the contracts were signed and exchanged, Harold poured a drink for Emily.
“Ms. Johnson, here’s to a successful partnership.”
Emily raised her glass. “To a successful partnership.”
She still thought of herself as her past self. This was her first time drinking as an adult in this life, so she misjudged the strength and choked on the drink, her eyes watering.
The alcohol–induced blush and her teary eyes made her look like she had been forced to drink too much. Harold, seeing her choke, patted her back to help.

Chapter 861
This scene was exactly what James saw when he walked in.
From his perspective, it looked like Emily was being forced to drink, and Harold was taking advantage of her.
“Let go of her!”

James moved so quickly that no one had time to react. Jace hadn’t followed so that no one could stop him. He reached Harold and grabbed his collar, landing a punch.
“James, let go! What are you doing?”
