Anastasia shot her a glance. “Can’t remember?”
She checked the time on her phone, her voice casual. “No rush. There’s still plenty of time. I’ll wait while you think it over.”
The moment those words left her lips, Cora knew she had no way out—Anastasia wasn’t going to let this go today.
And even if she stayed silent, it would be child’s play for Anastasia to get her hands on that list of names.
Left with no choice, Cora began reciting them, one by one.
Anastasia’s elegant fingers danced across the keyboard. On the massive computer monitor, name after name appeared, filling the screen.
After more than ten minutes, the list finally ended.
Anastasia smiled and turned to Cora. “All right, now do me one more favor. Message each of these people. Tell them I’m giving them ten minutes. If they don’t show up within ten minutes, they can pack their things and leave the Global Harmony Medical Institute.”
The room erupted in shock.
“Anastasia! Who gave you the right?!” Lauren snapped, leaping to her feet, her eyes blazing with anger.
Anastasia regarded her with mild curiosity. “The Dean did, of course. Didn’t you know?”
Before Lauren could reply, Anastasia added, “If I’m not mistaken, all these people are auditors, aren’t they?”
The Global Harmony Medical Institute had always been famously selective. This year, out of all the candidates who sat the entrance exam, only Anastasia had been accepted. It was notoriously difficult to get in.
But there was another rule: once admitted, a student could only stay for a maximum of ten years. Most found a new path within that time.
Yet, somehow, the Institute now had hundreds of students—an obvious red flag to anyone paying attention.
