Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 263

“This—who the hell is the shameless bastard behind this? What kind of soulless paparazzi does this?! Unbelievable!”

She was so furious she nearly hurled her phone against the wall.

“I waited until after midnight, okay? I made sure the place was empty before I changed and left—precisely to avoid getting photographed! How did they even get those shots? Were they camped out with a telescope and a telephoto lens or something?!”

Elodie listened to her ranting on the other end of the line and let out a weary sigh.

“It’s too late to worry about that now. Gwyneth, take my advice—don’t go anywhere near Fletcher Group today.”

Gwyneth, still caught between confusion and outrage, didn’t catch on. “Why not? There’s a ton of work to do at the office—”

“Why not?” Elodie snapped, her voice rising. “You haven’t seen the news, have you? The street outside your building is packed with reporters—cameras everywhere! They’ve practically turned the place into a fortress. If you show up right now, you’ll be walking straight into the lion’s den. What do you want me to do, clear out the press single-handedly? ‘Your humble servant is powerless, my queen!’”

Gwyneth blinked in utter confusion. “Wait… isn’t that a bit much? I’m just a designer—why the circus?”

“‘A bit much?!’” Elodie was practically laughing in exasperation. “Ms. Fletcher! Ms. Fletcher! Nimbus! Do you have any idea how influential you are? Or how explosive this news is? You are literally the hottest headline on the internet right now! My phone’s blowing up—everyone knows I’m your best friend, and every media outlet and brand wants a piece of you! Oh, hold up, there’s another one calling. I’ll call you back—figure out what you’re going to do!”

And with that, Elodie hung up in a flurry.

Gwyneth stared at her silent phone, then glanced down at the screen plastered with candid photos and sensational headlines. She felt like she’d stumbled into a dream—no, a nightmare.

Had she… really just been outed?

She hadn’t even begun to process it when her phone rang again, sharp and insistent.

She shot the screen a look of pure annoyance.

Lance.

What now?

She swiped to answer, not bothering with pleasantries. Before she could get a word in, Lance’s voice came through—hushed, shaky with excitement and disbelief.

“Hey… Gwyneth? Is that really you? Seriously, is it really you?!”

She pressed her fingers to her temples, patience wearing thin. “Spit it out, Lance. If you’re going to say something dumb, just say it.”

She was in no mood for anyone’s nonsense.
