Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 82

The conference room fell into a silence so deep, you could hear a pin drop.

On the other side of the security feed, Julian’s expression changed in an instant.

Had he misheard just now? He quickly rewound the footage and listened again.

On the monitor, Gwyneth’s profile was calm and unruffled. Even as he replayed and zoomed in over and over, there wasn’t the faintest trace of hesitation or reluctance in her face.

She’d said it so naturally, so matter-of-fact, as if she were merely stating the most ordinary truth—one that had absolutely nothing to do with him, Julian.

For a split second, his chest went hollow, as if someone had dropped a ton of bricks straight onto his heart.

The cold glow from the screen reflected off his face, twisted now by a cocktail of shock and rage, crimson veins spiderwebbing across his eyes.

A chill shot up from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

Then, a few seconds later, a new thought struck him—and he almost laughed aloud.

Who would marry her? Who would want her? Who would dare?

Even if someone did, who would dare try to steal a woman from Julian?

It had to be a trick. She was trying to fool everyone—pretending she’d married him, so she could get her hands on the shares.

Julian snatched up his phone and fired off another message: “Tell her to produce a marriage certificate as proof.”

He’d never registered a marriage with Gwyneth. Her lie would unravel instantly.

His fists clenched as he stared at the screen, unable to tear his gaze away.

Winston’s reaction mirrored Julian’s—he’d gone from stunned to looking as though he’d just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.
