She tapped her forehead, trying to remember, but everything was a blank.
Seeing her confused and lost expression, Lizetta playfully flicked her on the forehead and said, "Yeah, lucky you landed in the swimming pool! You really should cut back on the drinks, it was terrifying."
This time it was a fall into the pool, who knows if next time it might be a streak down Main Street?
"No wonder I'm aching all over. Was it you who pulled me out? Thank goodness for you, Liz."
Yolanda reached out to hug Lizetta, but Lizetta quickly raised her hands to block her, a complicated look on her face.
"Not quite, it wasn't me. It was Cassius who jumped in after you and pulled you out."
"What? You must be kidding me," Yolanda said, skeptical.
How could she believe that? Cassius, with his perpetual scowl like he wished she were dead, would jump in to save her? It sounded like something out of a fantasy.
"I saw it with my own eyes, absolutely true. Cassius might have a temper, and he's not always the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's got a good heart. When you fell in, he tried to grab you but couldn't, and without a second thought, he jumped from the third floor after you."
Lizetta recalled an incident at the Hawthorne mansion once.
Evelina Hawthorne and she had both fallen into the pool, and Remington had chosen to save Evelina, leaving her to fend for herself.
Cassius had been the one to jump in and rescue her then, too.
In that regard, Cassius seemed to outshine Remington.
"Yoli, if you haven't moved on yet, maybe today’s a good chance to clear things up with Cassius."
Perhaps Cassius wasn’t as indifferent to Yolanda as he seemed.
"Yoli? Are you okay?" Lizetta asked with concern, noticing her friend's distress.
Yolanda turned to her, forcing a smile, and quickly said, "It's fine, I'm going in to see him. I think you're right, I should talk to him."
With that, she opened the door and slipped inside, shutting it with a firm click.
Lizetta, pondering the doctor's words and Yolanda's reaction, found the situation increasingly odd.
She leaned against the door, just like Yolanda had, trying to catch any sound from inside.
As she listened intently, a shadow loomed over her from behind.
A man's voice, laced with amusement, murmured in her ear, "Liz, eavesdropping isn’t a great habit. But if you're looking for some excitement, we could always create a little of our own..."

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
