All of his girlfriends have always been top–notch, each one better than the last. This time, he even seemed to have learned his lesson and tried to keep things low–key.
Before today, barely anyone knew that he was dating Queena.
It’s too bad that the Romeros were watching and waiting for him to mess things up.
This time, he really messed up big time all on his own.
Who knew what it felt like to cause trouble for someone else and end up getting yourself in trouble instead.
No matter how crazy Blaine was, Claudia was enjoying the show to the fullest.
Of course, someone just couldn’t stand to see her happy.
When she stepped out of the auction house, Jasper and Lydia were waiting at the door.
Lydia was no longer mad about being tricked. When she saw Claudia, she greeted her with a gentle smile.
“Claudia, Mr. Romero.”
She took out an invitation and smiled at Claudia, who was expressionless.
“Claudia, this is an invitation to my show. I hope you can come and watch my performance.”
She acted all gracious, as if their heated argument at the auction house had never happened.
But Claudia could see the sharp glint in her eyes.
So what if she won at the birthday party? Her parents still felt bad for Lydia because she had to step in as a substitute bride. To make it up to her, they spent money to build her reputation and host a performance tour for her.
That stage was something Claudia would never have.
She knew she could never dance again and that was something she would always regret.
Claudia scoffed and said, “Lydia, stop being a jerk.”
Lydia bit her lip and glanced at Sterling’s cold face. She turned to Claudia, looking pitiful, and said. “Claudia, I know you’re still angry because of my engagement with Jasper. After all, you’ve liked him for so many years.”

She lowered her head and whispered, “If you’re upset, we can call off the engagement anytime.”
Smack!
The slap landed hard across Lydia’s pitiful face.
“No need to call off the engagement. I don’t do trash recycling, but if you want another trip to the emergency room, I’m happy to help.”
Lydia held her cheek in shock.
There are so many people here, is she out of her mind?
“Aren’t you afraid that Mom and Dad-”
Smack!
Another slap landed on her face.
“We cut ties ages ago. What right do you have to act like family?”
Seeing she was about to raise her hand again, a large hand caught her wrist. “Claudia, that’s enough.”
Jasper’s eyes were red and he was holding her wrist tightly. Maybe he was angry because she called him “trash” or maybe he just felt bad that Lydia got hit just for giving her an invitation.
Claudia yanked her wrist back. “Fine, I won’t hit her anymore.”
Jasper’s heart skipped a beat. Does she still care about him and listen to his words?
The moment he let go, an even louder slap landed on his face.
Claudia smiled brightly.
“I’m hitting you instead.”
She didn’t hold back at all.
The people watching held their own faces and winced. The sound was so sharp, the crowd almost felt the sting themselves.
Jasper looked hurt.
Only then did Sterling step forward. He calmly took Claudia’s hand and gave the two people a cold glance.
