pter 135 No Spark
Looking out at the many big–name guests, Lydia felt both nervous and determined to do her very best.
Several masters in the front row nodded with approval.
Only Celine and Florence, sitting in the center, kept their expressions flat.
During intermission, people around them praised her. “Ms. Wallace really is the most talented young dancer of our generation. I heard she choreographed most of tonight’s pieces, or at least co–created them. That’s impressive. Overall, her strengths outweigh her flaws.”
But Celine frowned. “On the surface, all these dances seem similar, but the tones are different. She’s trying to show too much. As a full performance with one theme, it feels messy.”
She wouldn’t even have come if her niece Alice hadn’t begged her, insisting she should bring some colleagues along.
Celine already had her doubts about Lydia.
It wasn’t that ambition was bad, but past dealings had taught her that Lydia wasn’t simple.
She made a note to scold Alice later. Not everyone was worth bringing to her.
Florence’s comment was even sharper. “Plenty of skill. No spark.”
She and Celine were old friends, so she didn’t bother being polite. “Honestly, I think Tilda has more natural talent. I don’t get why this Ms. Wallace is the one everyone talks about.”
She paused, then added, “My new project is leaning more toward working with Tilda.”
After all, Tilda had invited her here tonight. They’d exchanged numbers after Florence saw her perform a few days ago, and they’d clicked right away.
But now, despite inviting her, Tilda hadn’t shown up anywhere,
Florence and Celine shared a smile.
Young people these days…
Still, they didn’t mind. At least it gave them a chance to catch up with each other. After the show, they could always grab dinner together.

Chapter 135 No Spark
Finished
Backstage, Lydia kept her eyes on the guests, carefully watching their reactions. She overheard some of their comments, too.
Normally, she would have panicked.
But not tonight.
Celine and Florence were at the very top of the industry. Of course their standards were sky- high. That was expected.
Lydia was confident. She believed that once her final performance hit the stage, all those earlier criticisms would disappear.
She hadn’t chosen that piece on a whim. It was something extraordinary.
For Florence’s upcoming international ballet, a genius dancer paired with a gifted choreographer was exactly the rare talent they needed.
Tilda might have an early lead, but it wouldn’t matter. If Claudia hadn’t gotten herself injured and hospitalized, the chance never would have gone to Tilda in the first place.
A substitute is still just a substitute.
I’ll take back everything what’s mine.
Tilda, you’re doomed.
To be fair, under the spotlight, Lydia still had a certain charm.
Tilda studied her with a professional’s critical eye.
