Chapter 151 The Terms of Punishment

Mandy had been calling nonstop since last night. Every single call was hung up. In the end, she was met with a deadline–the phone had been shut off.
Claudia was speechless.
She glanced at the call log. The screen was nearly flooded with missed calls.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out who had helped her hang up the call and switch off the phone for her.
“Mandy,” Claudia nudged her face against the pillow and asked in a muffled voice, “what’s so urgent?”
Mandy didn’t waste time. “Didn’t you say the Lancasters and Jasper would come rescue Lydia? They’re nowhere to be seen.”
“They probably got held up,” Claudia replied calmly. “But knowing them, there’s no way they’d just abandon Lydia.”
She paused, then added, “You have nothing better to do? Why are you watching something this trivial so closely?”
Mandy’s tone turned casual. “What can I do? Grandpa’s been on my back every day, nitpicking everything I do. I need to throw him a bone, or he won’t quit.”
Ever since teaming up to take down Quade, Claudia and Mandy had stayed in touch.
If it weren’t for the Lancasters causing such a stir, people would still be gossiping about Quade -rumors of him being into men, his wild nights at clubs, and the scandal at the Lancasters‘ party where he was caught getting cozy with Zane.
When Quade finally left the country, he was deeply injured.
Walter had no choice but to give up on his beloved grandson. Not just sending him abroad, but exiling him completely. He cut him off and dumped him in Vucliunia.
Still, Walter never got over it, still seething.
Lydia was the Lancasters‘ darling. In Walter’s eyes, she was the reason Quade had the wrong path. The reason he’d been forced overseas in disgrace, sickly and abandoned.

Losing a few business projects or delaying some contracts of Lancaster Group wasn’t enough to ease Walter’s rage over losing his grandson.

He carried that bitterness everywhere, even toward Mandy, who now held the family reins.
When Lydia finally hit rock bottom, Mandy knew right away–this was Walter’s chance to vent his anger.
Lydia had been arrested. She was careful, so there wasn’t much evidence left behind. Her money transfers and communications were hidden well.
At most, she could only be charged with inciting an assault.
And Alice? Even though she’d been wrapped in bandages, it wouldn’t take much to find out she wasn’t actually hurt.
That was why they’d planned everything so carefully–getting Lydia taken away by the police right in front of a crowd, with cameras rolling.
There’d be no way for her to pretend nothing happened.
Once Lydia was arrested, things got worse.
Coincidentally, the Zimmers had ties in the justice system. All it would take was a little pressure, and Lydia could be handed a much harsher sentence.
With an old grudge still hanging in the air, it wasn’t surprising that the Zimmers would jump in to kick Lydia while she was down.
The only way to save her now was with a bigger trade–something valuable enough to tempt them.
Mandy had already decided which pieces of the Lancaster Group and Fenton Group businesses she’d carve up.
She was a businesswoman first. Profit ruled everything.
If the offer was good enough, she might ease up on Lydia.
