In the end, Claudia sent Sterling overseas.
At first, he couldn’t stand it anymore. After they finally confessed their feelings, he wanted to go further. But back then, their emotions weren’t deep enough. And when they did Claudia got sick from the rain. Once she recovered, her period came.

Sterling was so frustrated that he nearly lost it. Late one night, unable to control himself, he ended up making love to her.
The next morning, even though he had a flight to catch, he refused to get out of bed. He stayed there, holding Claudia, kissing her over and over, pressing his lips against hers until she got annoyed and kicked him off the bed.
But Sterling wasn’t one to give up easily. He climbed back up, pinned her down again, and started teasing and touching her all over, relentless as ever.
Finally, out of breath, he pressed his forehead against hers and growled, “Claudia, when I get back, you’re done for.”
Claudia was sore all over, her legs aching. She rolled her eyes sleepily and muttered, “Just go already!”
“Hmph.”
Sterling snorted but smirked. After quietly cleaning up, he grabbed the luggage they had packed together and headed for the door.
Before leaving, he noticed her lingerie hanging off the end of the bed. He hesitated for a few seconds, then glanced at Claudia sleeping soundly. Acting like a thief, he snatched it up and stuffed it into his jacket.
He didn’t dare let her catch him, so once he got downstairs, he slipped it into his suitcase in the living room, looking suspicious as ever.
When Clint arrived to drive him to the airport, he found Sterling already waiting–sitting up straight on the couch, eyes forward, looking perfectly proper and innocent.
Clint blinked in surprise. Since when does Mr. Romero act so formal at home?
But as the car drove farther from the villa, the cold, tense energy filling the air made Clint shiver. Thinking about his year–end bonus, he wisely kept his mouth shut.

She spent her time at home painting and binge–watching shows. Sometimes, she bet on silly things with her dad, or chatted online with Whitney, who was still abroad for business. Every night, she and Sterling would video call.
Both Sterling and Whitney kept trying to convince her to come overseas.
Claudia thought she could go visit Whitney. After all, it had been quite a while since they last saw each other.
Whitney was thrilled when Claudia said she might actually visit.
Living alone in another country was boring, and she’d been frustrated that so many big things had happened lately without her hearing the news first.
She especially regretted missing Lydia’s downfall and arrest.
Besides, she’d worked so hard plotting with that old man just to get Sterling and Sylvia and Jasper out of the way, so she could finally take on the Fentons and the Lancasters head–on, fair and square.
But Sterling had played it smart, swooping in and winning Claudia’s heart while Whitney was
gone.
Before Whitney left, she and Claudia had gone out drinking. Back then, Claudia treated Sterling like a sweet but pushy Santa Claus she couldn’t quite refuse.
Who would’ve thought that not long after, they’d end up together?
