Sterling stood tall and broad–shouldered, his expression cold and sharp. Even without trying, his presence alone was enough to make people hold their breath in awe.
He held her gently in his arms, but the chill in his eyes was enough to make everyone watching shiver.
Across the courtyard, “Für Elise” was still playing, the soft piano notes drifting through the night, yet everyone somehow had a bad feeling about what was coming.
In the shadows beyond the lights, Sally smiled faintly and tossed aside the rose she had never planned to give away.
If she hadn’t been late and missed the whole thing with Maverick, and hadn’t heard the rumor about Claudia and Sterling, she would still understand just by seeing the look on Claudia’s face.
It turned out that youthful love didn’t always last forever.
Sometimes the sweetness of the past only made the ending uglier.
Clearly, Jasper didn’t understand that.
Sally thought to herself, There’s no need to ask. The answer is already here.
The last favor she was asked to do was, “Can we start over?”
The song finally ended. Jasper looked toward the small pavilion the hotel had set up as a sheltered lounge.
Under the night sky, the white curtains fluttered softly in the breeze, and behind them sat a vague, graceful silhouette.
He picked up the bouquet resting on the piano stand and, under everyone’s curious gaze, slowly walked over.
He stared at the person inside. “I know that no amount of apology can bring back the time we lost. Misunderstandings made us take many wrong turns. But the fact that we were together for 20 years, doesn’t that show that our past wasn’t all bad?
“I know what’s most important to me now. I won’t apologize anymore because no matter what gets in our way, I’m not going to let go of your hand again.
“Can you give me another chance? Let me love you again, the right way.”
His eyes were fixed on that figure behind the curtain; waiting, hoping she’d turn around.

Same place. Same people. Could their old love really start again?
A few low gasps came from the crowd, followed by cheers and applause.
“Say yes! Say yes!”
A few girls clasped their hands over their faces. “Oh my god, that’s so sweet! I didn’t know he was so in love with her. I hope they end up together.”
“Yeah, kiss her! Kiss her!” someone shouted, and laughter rippled through the group.
The air was thick with excitement, sweet and buzzing.
Even the hotel staff, who had no clue what was happening, turned to watch.
Encouraged by the familiar faces of their old classmates, Jasper took a few steps closer.
He looked at her nervously and said, “I don’t care about your past or who you’re with right now. If you’re willing to give me a chance, we can get through any problems together. If you still love me, just nod your head, okay?”
The person inside nodded slowly and carefully, letting out a small, whimpering sound.
Everyone was so moved that they held hands and cheered.
