After a long while, both were breathless, their foreheads almost touching, caught in a pull of
desire.
“He sent you flowers?”
Claudia traced her fingers across his chest, playing with the buttons he’d left undone, her smile wicked and bright. “He did send them. But did I ever accept them? Guess you don’t actually know, huh?”
She was pretty sure from the moment she entered Serenity Peaks Resort, he’d already been watching her every move.
Sterling grinned as he brushed another kiss against the corner of her mouth. “Good girl.”
Then she turned the tables.
She hooked his collar and yanked him closer, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose. “What about you? Ignoring my calls because you were on your flight home?”
“Yeah.” He murmured against her skin, his mouth leaving a trail down her neck.
“Besides that guy and your class
representative, is there anyone else from school stuck in your
head?” His rough hand slid over her waist, tracing the curve of her body.
“Nope.” She let out a soft hum, biting her lip before pushing, “So, did you run into any old flings or mysterious women while you were away?”
He chuckled, tightening his hold around her. “No. Clint can back me up on that.”
He’d been barely sleeping, so he could finish early and get back to her faster.
Claudia caught his wandering hand, biting lightly at his Adam’s apple as it moved.
“You were amazing tonight. What kind of reward do you want?”
Sterling froze, his gaze locking on her face, every line of her expression pulling him deeper in.
“Anything?” he murmured near her car.
Claudia shivered when his low, magnetic voice brushed against her skin.
“Anything,” she said boldly, slipping her hand under his shirt without hesitation.

“You’re not leaving again, are you?” he asked suddenly, the question slipping out of nowhere.
In the darkness, only the faint gleam of his eyes shone, but her chest swelled with so much affection that she dared to kiss his car and whisper, “Sterling, wanna find out?”
That was all the answer he needed.
With a soft laugh, Sterling lifted her effortlessly and carried her upstairs toward the bedroom.
Their clothes trailed behind them. From the doorway to the stairs, across the hallway, over the couch, and finally to the bed.
The moon slipped behind a cloud, shielding every heated moment from view.
Outside the wide windows, mountains and mist merged into shadows. Inside, the air rolled like an untamed sea.
Through the long, breathless night, someone surrendered completely.
While their room throbbed with life deep into the night, far off in Serenity Peaks, a fierce pursuit was taking place.
The lone wolf that had once left the peaks had grown powerful, its body pulsing with heat and strength.
A wild hunger and primal urge lit its eyes with an eerie glow.
It sank its teeth into its prey, dragging it across forbidden terrain and over snowy ridges. It devoured every inch of this lush, living land.
The trembling lamb struggled, fighting to escape the wolf’s grip, only to stumble back before the ravenous beast again.
Its body froze, its mind went blank.
The wolf tasted the sweetness of spring water on its lips, its gaze dark and hungry.
