Since neither Quinton nor Winnie would speak, everyone could only treat it as a simple family squabble.
But Quinton had hit his wife, so the Romeros were clearly in the wrong this time.
Corbin looked at Sterling with a heavy gaze. “My sister was hurt by one of the Romeros. Sterling, you owe us an explanation.”
“An explanation?” Sterling gave a careless little smile. “Divorce? Split the assets? How about letting Quinton divorce Winnie and give her all his assets?”
Corbin’s face darkened. “Are you making fun of us?”
There was no way Winnie would ever divorce Quinton.
Sterling stared straight through Corbin, as if seeing right through him. “So what do you actually want?”
Corbin looked away, uncomfortable. “Kamila sent you that AI partnership proposal last time. Romero Corp has the top R&D teams, and the Lloyds can handle most of the funding- investing in exchange for shares.”
Sterling’s smile turned mocking. “You really think Romero Corp needs your investment?”
Next to him, Claudia sighed, shook her head, and shrugged. “If people want to score a bargain, they should just say so. There’s no need to act like they’re being generous with money.”
Sterling laughed. “Don’t talk nonsense. Corbin’s famous for being upright. There’s no way he’d be that greedy, right?”
Corbin’s face went red and blotchy.
But Sterling cut off whatever he was about to say. “Quinton hit his wife–that’s your sister. If you want compensation, see what you can get from Quinton himself. But don’t expect to dig anything out of Romero Corp to make up for his mistakes. That’s not happening.”
He wasn’t about to clean up the mess Quinton had made.
Sterling glanced at Yvonne. “You could always talk to Grandpa.”
Yvonne, who had been watching the exchange in silence, spoke up softly. “The Romeros will definitely give you an explanation.”

In the end, Corbin decided he’d try Donovan next time. Donovan might be shrewd, but he cared about keeping up appearances with his in–laws.
But when it came to Sterling and Claudia, there was simply no way to get the
upper hand.
Kamila looked at Sterling, who had barely let go of Claudia’s hand all night before grabbing it again, feeling both frustrated and helpless.
Is she really that special?
Seeing the reality of Winnie and Quinton’s marriage just left her even more lost.
Once all the annoying people finally cleared out, Sterling and Claudia disappeared together into the garden, hand in hand.
In the shadows along the garden path, Sterling pinned her gently against the wall, holding her close, forehead pressed to hers. “Baby, were you standing up for me tonight?”
Claudia’s arms circled his neck, her lips curving into a smile. “Did it make you feel better?”
