Chapter 306 Easy to Be Kind
Report her?
Who was Winnic supposed to report to?
Sterling? Please. That was exactly why Claudia could be so bold.

Forget about stealing a cello–if Claudia told her to get out of the Romero Manor, Sterling would probably just laugh and say, “Claudia’s still young. She’s got a temper. You older folks should cut her some slack,” which would probably make Winnie cough up another gallon of blood.
Go to Donovan then?
Please. Claudia had already turned the whole Romeros upside down, and he still hadn’t said a single word about not letting her marry in.
Everyone knew who really ran this house now.
Winnie was already injured, dizzy, and out of breath. After getting roasted by Claudia–who was totally shameless and impossible to argue with–she actually coughed up blood and passed out on the spot.
When Nelson arrived, he nearly lost his soul seeing the scene.
If Winnie really died of rage in the Romero Manor, Donovan wouldn’t be far behind from having a heart attack himself.
Panicking, Nelson called an ambulance immediately–and sent Quinton out too, just to be safe.
Sterling’s wife was way too lethal. He figured it was safer for the couple to stay far away from home.
Listening to Claudia animatedly describe the whole thing, Sterling couldn’t help but smile.
Now he finally understood why Nelson had looked so terrified when they came back–wanting to say something but too scared to open his mouth.
He pinched Claudia’s cheek. “If my mom were still alive, she’d definitely love you.”

Claudia blinked and said with a smug grin, “She already did.”

Looking at her proud little face, Sterling suddenly remembered that day after Paula’s funeral- when they went together to visit Isabella’s grave.
The sky had been perfectly clear, not a breeze in sight, yet just as they finished talking to his mom and grandparents, a tiny wildflower drifted past on the wind.
Claudia had said that wildflower was a sign–a blessing from their loved ones above.
Sterling smiled faintly.
Only when he was with Claudia did he ever notice things like a flower or a blade of grass.
Not because they held meaning on their own, but because she gave them meaning.
Every visit to the cemetery used to feel heavy and cold, but with her beside him, it somehow felt like a warm, peaceful trip to visit family on the other side.
“Claudia,” he said suddenly.
She looked up at him, puzzled.
And met his kiss head–on.
His lips brushed hers—soft, brief, gentle. Smiling, Sterling reached up to touch her face, eyes full of quiet affection.
“Claudia,” he called again.
It didn’t mean anything. He just wanted to say her name.
How could anyone not love Claudia?
At that moment, Lydia’s hospital bed was being wheeled into the operating room.
The three men of the Lancasters stood outside, worn out and hollow–eyed.
Lottie had been sedated and was finally asleep.
But that wasn’t the biggest problem. Tonight, in front of a crowd of guests, she’d lost control and attacked someone. Sure, it might’ve been a breakdown, an unplanned swing of the knife— but with everyone watching, there was no hiding it now.
