Chapter 308 Hug Me
Claudia’s pale hands looped around Sterling’s neck and clamped over his mouth.
“Shut up, will you? Sterling, do you even know what shame is?”

The man she scolded didn’t seem bothered at all. His sharp, handsome face carried that wild, tipsy confidence. “Come on, it’s just two adults having fun. There’s nothing shameful about that. What are you not enjoying it, babe?”
Claudia bit the back of his neck like a little wildcat, her face turning as red as a cooked crab.
Damn it. Every time I try to argue with a man who can flirt without blinking, I end up embarrassed for both of us.
“Hmph,” she grumbled against his shoulder, “I’m gonna expose you–let everyone at Romero Corp see what their boss is really like!”
Some men looked cool and untouchable in public but turned into total flirts behind closed doors.
Wasn’t that basically a split personality?
He chuckled. “So they’ll know how obsessed I am with my wife? Fine by me. But someone better not get shy and start avoiding my office again.”
“I give up!” Claudia pinched his cheek, slumping lazily against him. “You win.”
When it came to dirty talk, she was no match for him.
Sterling laughed and bounced her up a little higher on his back.
After a while, she asked softly, “Tired yet?”
She wasn’t heavy at all–it was effortless carrying her.

flowing green dress on his back looked warm and bright, their laughter glowing in the quiet night.
The neighborhood was peaceful, the moon high and clear. The streets were empty except for the two of them–as if they were the only people in the world.
Claudia suddenly asked, “Sterling, what was the hardest time in your life?”
The Romeros‘ was huge, but it had never felt warm. She figured even he must’ve felt lonely sometimes.
Sterling thought for a moment. “Probably when my mom was still alive.”
Not when he lost her as a child. Not when he had to survive among wolves. Not when he was fighting for his life overseas. Only love could make a person weak.
It was the helplessness of being too young to protect her, the pain of watching her suffer, and the rage of being powerless against fate.
After Isabella died–and before Claudia came into his life–he’d lost all his weak points. He only had two goals left: to survive and to get revenge.
Most of the time, life had felt empty, meaningless.
But holding her made him feel grounded again.
Claudia had become his new weakness–and at the same time, his strongest armor.
“Put me down,” she said, patting his shoulder.
Sterling set her down by the edge of a flowerbed.
She hopped off lightly, smiling as she opened her arms.
“Sterling, hug me.”
