Winnie clenched her hands tightly, her restrained gaze shifting toward Claudiaonly to meet Sterling’s dark, unreadable eyes. They were the same eyes she had seen years ago, when she tried to abandon him in the mountains to be devoured by wolvescalm, piercing, and enough to make one’s heart tremble.

Winnie stood rigidly, unable to do what was asked of her.

Isabella had stolen the man she loved most, shattered her deepest pride, and caused the death of her unborn child. Even then, Winnie had never begged her for mercy, so how could she bow now, in front of her lifelong enemy?

Claudia seemed to have expected this. Her tone remained even. You don’t have to do it. You can also turn around and leave right now. It just depends on what matters more to you— Kamila, or your pride.

Winnie looked like a trapped beast, suffocating under an invisible grip.

She could not bring herself to admit her mistakes, nor could she just walk away.

No matter how much she hated Kamila’s betrayal, that girl was still her niece. She was the daughter of her beloved brother and the one she had watched grow up. Kamila’s life had barely begun; she could not be left to cower away forever.

Once, the family had trapped Isabella. Now, it was doing the same to Winnie.

Claudia and Sterling waited patiently, never rushing her.

Sterling felt a warm hand slide into his, fingers interlocking tightly. He gave a faint smile.

Apologies could never make up for the pain Isabella had endured because of Winnie, nor could they bring back the three lives lost.

Quinton had already lost his legs, but Winnie had lived far too comfortably all these years. Her retribution had only just begun.

And today, it would start by shattering the pride she had clung to for so long.

No one knew how much time had passedten minutes, twenty, or maybe an hour?

The cemetery was quiet; aside from the sound of wind and rain, there was nothing else.

When Claudia’s legs began to go numb, Winnie’s umbrella slipped from her hands, and the

rain instantly washed away her carefully done makeup.

Biting her lip, she slowly, painfully bent her waist.

Then, she bowed deeply to the tombstone before her.

Watching Winnie, redeyed and bowing, Claudia could not help but glance at the tombstone- at Isabella’s gentle smile carved into the stone.

Apologies were worthless. If not for Quinton and Winnie, Isabella could have lived a blissful, peaceful life.

However, the past could not be undone.

At least from now on, Claudia would take good care of the person Isabella had loved most.

And Sterling would make sure justice was served for every bit of suffering they had suffered.

With Claudia and Sterling overseeing, Winnie did not dare to slack off.

By the time she finished, she was getting lightheaded, her vision blurred.

Through the haze, she seemed to see that day againthe day her longtime crush, Quinton, had held Isabella’s shy hand and proudly flaunted their love in front of her.

Did she regret it?
