Shawn’s hand had barely brushed the girl’s hair when, all of a sudden, a pair of small, warm hands clamped down on his wrist—tight, almost threatening to snap his bones in half.

Sabrina looked up, her eyes icy as she shot a sidelong glare at her would-be assailant.

He was standing.

She was seated.

Her grip didn’t loosen; she stared at him with unmistakable warning in her eyes, as if to say, “Are you insane? Try touching me again and see what happens.”

Their exchange was so swift, it caught the attention of their classmates. Some grabbed their phones to snap pictures; others started filming, eager for the showdown between the two most notorious students in school.

No one dared to stare openly, but everyone was watching from the corners of their eyes.

Shock rippled through the classroom; several students drew in sharp breaths.

Sabrina actually grabbed Shawn’s hand.

She must be crazy—completely out of her mind!

Those who hadn’t seen the beginning assumed the two had gotten into an argument.

It looked like Shawn was about to hit Sabrina and she’d stopped him just in time.

In the span of a few seconds, everyone had already imagined a dramatic confrontation.

Now, all eyes were fixed on the two in the back row, fear momentarily forgotten.

A wicked grin tugged at the corner of Shawn’s mouth. With a sudden twist, he yanked his hand free and swiftly brushed past her hair, plucking out a tiny leaf no bigger than a fingernail.

Meeting Sabrina’s hostile gaze, he flicked the leaf off his fingers, letting it fall to the floor.

Sabrina turned away, pulling her attention back to her book, as if nothing had happened.

So he was just removing something from her hair?

Either way, he shouldn’t have just grabbed her. He could have said something.

She kept flipping through her workbook, jotting down answers, completely unfazed by the stares and whispers around her.
