Celia and Xander both gasped, their shock echoing through the room as they finally found their voices again.
Honestly, the outcome hadn’t surprised her at all—she’d seen it coming from the start. But as hosts, they had to keep the energy high, emotions dialed up for the crowd.
“Congratulations, Ms. Sutton, on taking the second round!” Celia announced, her tone bright and exuberant.
A wave of cheers rippled through the audience.
In the crowd, Marshall looked downright murderous. Losing to Hector was one thing—he could swallow that. But both of them losing to this woman? That was a whole new level of humiliation.
Celine, Uliana, and Elena looked like they might explode from sheer frustration. Celine gritted her teeth and muttered, “Well, at least Sabrina won’t have to leave the Sutton family now.”
Uliana and Elena stood off to the side, muttering curses at the woman who’d just turned their world upside down.
Hector, overwhelmed with embarrassment, pushed to his feet, ready to bolt from the scene.
But Sabrina had no intention of letting him escape, not after fighting so hard for this victory.
“Hold on, Hector,” she called, her voice sweet but unwavering. “That deed for the Goldcrest District? Time to get the transfer paperwork ready.”
She held out her hand expectantly, a playful smile tugging at her lips that made her seem almost girlish.
Hector stood frozen, all his former swagger evaporated. Now he looked more like a wounded predator, glaring at her as if he could tear her apart with his eyes alone.
His pride, his reputation—hard-won after years of being overlooked by his family—had just gone up in smoke.
And now he’d lost the Goldcrest District—a prime piece of property he’d bought from Marshall at a steep price, with a hefty promise attached. Now, not only was the money gone, but he’d owe Marshall a favor too. A total disaster.
Sabrina, unfazed by his inner turmoil, shot him a mocking look. “What’s wrong, Hector? The great Hector isn’t trying to weasel out of a bet, is he? We’ve got a signed contract, a public wager, and half the Siren’s Club as witnesses. What’s a little real estate to a big shot like you?”
