She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 148

And he was from Glenwood. That was a whole other jurisdiction, and considering the assassin from earlier, odds were, it had to be that bastard.

If she died, Hector wouldn’t have to keep his promise. He could also hold onto his King of the Road title.

Killing two birds with one stone.

Sabrina ignored his question, her voice calm and detached. “I think I know who’s behind it.”

“Who?” Bryce immediately dropped his lazy demeanor, a chill running down his spine.

They’d survived life and death together tonight—he wasn’t about to let this slide.

Someone had dared to target his friends. That was a death wish.

And the killer had come for him, too.

He’d settle both scores at once.

“It’s not confirmed yet,” Sabrina replied lightly, brushing past the topic.

Bryce choked. “Not confirmed? I need a name. I want to find this guy and make him pay. If someone thinks they can mess with me, I’ll show them just how wrong they are.”

He thought she didn’t trust him, and at the same time, he couldn’t believe she was so reckless with her own life.

Just remembering that moment when she’d almost gone down with the enemy sent a shiver down his spine.

But Sabrina had already calculated the distance. She wasn’t stupid enough to really die together with the other guy.

She only did it because she was certain she could win.

She couldn’t tell him yet that Hector was the mastermind.

She still didn’t have the deed to the Goldcrest District property. If Bryce had Hector killed, who would she go to for the land?

The person Hector wanted dead was her. Tonight, thanks to Bryce’s interference, Hector’s plan had failed.

With Hector’s resources, it would take a while to organize another hit. But if this were Glenwood, there’d probably be a second wave of assassins by midnight.

Sabrina realized she’d dragged Bryce into this mess tonight.

She softened her tone and explained patiently, “Those people will back off because of you. As for who’s behind it, I’d rather not say yet—it’s just my suspicion. I don’t have any real proof. When I do, I’ll tell you.”

Bryce felt a bit reassured. So, it was just a hunch.

“All right, all right, whatever you say. Get in the car.”
