She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 19

Faye’s expression softened. “Ms. Sutton, you—”

“Call me Sabrina!” Sabrina cut her off before she could finish, her tone firm but friendly. She always preferred people to use her first name.

Truthfully, she wasn’t fond of her last name. Maybe, when her long-awaited revenge was finally complete, she’d change it—first and last.

Faye just smiled, unfazed by Sabrina’s mood. She quietly repeated the name to herself. It felt entirely unfamiliar.

She studied the young woman in front of her, certain they’d never met before. Faye prided herself on her memory for faces, and a beauty like Sabrina’s was impossible to forget.

What she couldn’t figure out was why Sabrina had chosen to help her. Sure, she’d made a promise, but considering the powerful people involved, it seemed almost unbelievable that Sabrina would risk revealing this secret. Her suspicion only deepened.

“You’re telling me about my daughter just for a promise?” Faye asked, searching Sabrina’s face.

“Relax, I’m not going to make you do anything illegal,” Sabrina replied, guessing at Faye’s doubts. Of course, she couldn’t exactly admit she’d lived through all this once before.

Faye wasn’t worried—what kind of trouble could a young woman really stir up with a simple promise?

“Are you with the Sutton family from Port City?” Faye ventured, her tone unsure.

As far as she knew, the Suttons only had one heiress—Celine. She’d never heard of a Sabrina among them. But the Sutton name was rare in Port City, and the only Suttons she knew of ran the Sutton Group.

Sabrina realized she meant Desmond’s family and nodded. “They only just found me and brought me home.”

She said it so casually, but the words sent a jolt through Faye.

The Suttons had found their long-lost daughter? That was huge news.

“She’s not in any immediate danger,” Sabrina answered, relying on what Yvette had told her. At this point in time, Yvette was still alive.

But she was suffering. She’d been locked in a basement, beaten and berated day after day. Not a patch of her skin was unmarked; her whole body was a canvas of bruises.

The only thing keeping her going was the thought of her mother. She believed, with all her heart, that her mom would find her and rescue her, no matter what.

But fate had been cruel. Yvette had never been saved. Instead, what she got was news that her mother had died, murdered in the street.

In this life, though, things were finally starting to change for the better.

Sabrina had come to find Jocelyn for two reasons. First, she needed to change Yvette’s fate, to make sure she wasn’t trafficked again. Second, Sabrina only truly trusted Jocelyn—she was the only one who valued life, who would protect a child.

As for the others—Desmond, Sommer—they cared only for their own interests. They wore the mask of loving parents, but in their hearts, they had never truly seen Sabrina as their daughter.
