Celine was their pride and joy.
But as for her, she had spent more than a decade in Cloud Village, and all those painful years had turned into the family’s shameful secret.
If there really was another life after this, she never wanted to return to the human world.
Twice was more than enough.
She had tasted every kind of suffering, witnessed all the cruelty and indifference people could offer.
Her conclusion was simple: life just wasn’t worth it.
Faye sniffled, Sabrina’s words making her mind spiral with worry. Maybe her daughter’s situation was far worse than she let on.
As long as she’s still alive, there’s hope.
“Fine, I’ll wait. Sabrina, you’d better not be lying to me. If you are, I swear I’ll kill you.”
Jocelyn’s words were cold and sharp. She would never allow anyone to use her daughter as leverage.
Sabrina just smiled faintly. “You won’t get the chance.”
The two women exchanged a knowing look, almost like old friends reunited after years apart.
Sabrina left the bar behind, drifting along the sidewalk.
The city buzzed around her, people coming and going beneath the streetlights.
She checked her phone. It was already late.
There would be plenty of time for shopping some other day.
She took out her phone and dialed her driver, Nick.

By the time she got home, it was already 10 p.m.
Desmond and Sommer had gone to bed early.
Hearing the front door, Martha got up. She glimpsed Sabrina’s cold, slender figure heading up the stairs.
Martha had left the living room light on for her.
Without Sabrina’s number, Martha called Nick instead to ask about her.
Nick said Sabrina had insisted on shopping alone, telling him to wait in the car.
He’d had no choice but to do as she said. He’d taken a nap in the car, then finally Sabrina called and asked to be picked up.
Worried Sabrina might get lost in the unfamiliar house, Martha had stayed awake, waiting for her to return safely.
Only when she saw Sabrina come through the door did she finally relax.
Of course not. She was reminding Sabrina who truly held the spotlight in the Sutton family.
Everyone was supposed to revolve around her.
Whatever Celine wanted, the Suttons made sure she got it. She was their darling, their treasured princess.
Sabrina rested her hand on the doorframe, a smile playing at her lips—more mockery than warmth.
“Didn’t you hear me? I gave you a chance. Don’t blame me if you don’t listen.”
The next moment, before Celine even understood what she meant—
A hand grabbed her arm and yanked hard. Celine’s foot twisted, pain shooting through her toes.
“Oops, sorry, little sister, did I step on you?” Sabrina said, voice dripping with faux innocence.
Before Celine could react, Sabrina shoved her forcefully out the door.
“My foot!” Celine cried, landing hard on the floor.
She burst into tears, pain radiating through her foot as if it had been run over.
“Get lost,” Sabrina snapped.
Then—slam—the bedroom door shut with a bang, leaving Celine sobbing in the hallway.
