She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 252

The only reason she kept Hester around was because she was afraid that if Sabrina ever returned, she would lose her standing in the Sutton family.

Right now, Sabrina was the Suttons’ eldest daughter—a title that meant everything in terms of status and identity.

Sommer was quietly displeased, but she didn’t let it show. In front of Octavia, she knew better than to act out. Octavia was stubborn, and had to be handled delicately.

So Sommer spoke in a gentle, soothing tone.

“Mom, you misunderstood me. Sabrina’s position isn’t changing. Hester’s only a few years older, so it’s natural for her to be the eldest sister. It won’t affect Sabrina’s place in the family.”

Octavia let out a cold snort, knowing full well what Sommer was scheming. Sommer was as calculating as they came—would she ever do something that wasn’t to her own advantage?

But as Octavia thought about it, she realized that when her time came, Hester would still need to be with Desmond’s family. That thought softened her stance a little.

“Fine,” Octavia said at last, her voice heavy with meaning. “Hester can’t stay with me forever. When I’m gone, I’ll feel better knowing she has you to look after her.”

Then she laid out her own terms.

“But about this party—why not host it for both Hester and Sabrina? Sabrina’s been back for over six months and you still haven’t thrown a welcome party for her. No one even knows who the real Sutton daughter is. As parents, you should know right from wrong, and you can’t let people gossip about our family.”

Sommer’s smile froze. She’d come here to get Octavia’s blessing to keep Hester under their roof—and to use the party to introduce Hester as the Suttons’ eldest daughter. Sabrina hadn’t even factored into her plans.

Wait a minute, wasn’t this supposed to be Hester’s party? How did it suddenly become about Sabrina?

Still keeping up her polite smile, Sommer tried to reason.
