Sabrina exchanged a glance with Stella.
Stella understood instantly. She took up her post at the door, making sure no one could eavesdrop.
The door to the hospital room clicked shut behind them.
Seeing that Octavia was no longer as agitated as before, Sabrina offered her grandmother a gentle smile. Or at least, she tried—she wasn’t sure if her smile truly looked gentle.
“Grandma, it’s just the two of us now. I’m going to ask you a few questions. If the answer is yes, blink.”
Octavia heard Sabrina’s voice and blinked once. Tears streamed down her cheeks again.
This was her Sabrina. She was alive. Thank God.
“Don’t cry, Grandma. We’re both safe. You need to stay calm, okay? The only way you’ll get better quickly is if you keep your emotions in check.”
Sabrina’s soothing words worked; Octavia managed to stop her tears. Silently, she prayed for a speedy recovery.
No one else knew what Hester had done.
Hester was sure to target the Sutton family again—Octavia had to recover as fast as possible.
At the same time, she trusted Sabrina would notice anything off about Hester.
“Was it Hester who did this to you?” Sabrina asked quietly.
Octavia’s heart skipped. Sabrina had guessed the culprit in one try. She nearly burst into tears again, but forced herself to hold them back, knowing she shouldn’t get emotional.
She blinked three times.
Sabrina understood immediately.
Of course—it was Hester.
Sabrina pressed on, “She’s after the Sutton shares, isn’t she?”
Octavia’s heart trembled. Her granddaughter was sharp—straight to the point, no wasted words.
She had been so worried Hester might make another move against the family, but now that Sabrina knew the truth, she would be on guard.
After Octavia blinked repeatedly in response, Sabrina asked one last question.
