She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 307

Sommer lunged forward, clutching Hester in a desperate embrace.

“Hester already said those things in a fit of anger—she’s still so young, she can’t go to prison. Please, for the sake of all our years together, say something for her, darling. Help her.”

Her reaction was pure, maternal instinct.

Desmond didn’t understand it.

Celine didn’t, either.

Why was she so determined to shield Hester?

Her behavior took Desmond by surprise. But after a moment, he wondered if maybe Sommer simply favored Hester, unable to watch her suffer such a harsh fate.

Yet what Hester had done was unforgivable.

She’d tried to harm Octavia. How could anyone let that go unpunished?

“That’s final. Butler, call the police,” Desmond said, waving his hand impatiently.

“No!” Sommer spun around, glaring at the butler.

The butler froze, phone halfway out of his pocket.

“There’s no solid evidence anyway—just a confession—”

Before she could finish, Sommer released Hester and dropped to her knees in front of Octavia.

“Mom, I’ve never asked you for anything, but Hester’s had a hard life since she was a child. She finally became part of my family, and I am her mother—I can’t just abandon her. Please, I beg you, let her go just this once. I’ll do anything you ask, as long as you don’t send her to the police.”

Octavia let out a cold, silent laugh.

Of course. A mother and her daughter—what a touching display.

But she’d seen enough. She was tired, and the last thing she wanted was to see Hester’s face any longer.

With a heavy sigh, Octavia finally spoke. “You make it sound as if I’m the heartless one here. Fine. For the sake of all these years she’s been with us, I won’t call the police.”
