Amelia’s pov
“I don’t feel well,” I mumbled under my breath for the last ten minutes or so. Dad didn’t believe me clearly since we were now
parked in front of a huge two story house.
If this is where Raiden lives, I can now understand why he’s such a cocky tool. His parents are loaded. All rich kids feel like
they’re on cloud nine.
“Amelia,” Dad let out a low breath and turn to me, his eyes pleading. “It’s just dinner.” He reaches out and squeezed my shoulder. “I will be there with you. Right beside you. It’s not like I’m dropping you off at some unknown place and leaving you there.”
He’s right. It was just dinner with his boss and family….his boss’s son who I am hoping is not the Raiden I know. A little voice in my head told me it most definitely is the Raiden who irritates me.
I chewed on my lips nervously as I crane my neck to look at the huge mansion. “Is it Raiden? Are you scared of him?”
I brought my gaze back to Dad’s instantly, my nose scrunching up. “Scared of Raiden? No, of course not. It’s just that he- well we aren’t friends.”
Technically that wasn’t a lie but it wasn’t the entire truth either. I was scared of Raiden, just not in the way anyone would think.
I admit there was something about him that intrigued me, intrigued me enough for me to want to know more. And that scared me. Because I never cared about the opposite sex like that before.
Dad nods. “It’s okay if you’re not. It’s just a dinner and you don’t have to speak to him if you don’t wish to.”
I nod, still a bit unsure. As we stepped out of the car, I had to crane my neck to look at the looming structure and followed after Dad who led the way
A man who looked to be an older version of Raiden opened the door, causing me to halt in shock. His eyes peered over Dad’s shoulder to look at me with a gentle friendly smile, the smile lines appearing
“I see you’ve brought your daughter.” The towering man who I am certain is Raiden’s father says with a pleasant smile on his face
“Yes,” dad nods. “I thought it was time you and your ma–wife meet her face to face.”
My brows furrowed There was something about Dad’s tone that set me on edge It was like something secret knowledge was tied between the two males Something I didn’t know about
The man nods, his green gleaming eyes that cast happiness over the pools return to me, crinkling the corners as his smile broadens “Please come in ” He pulled the door open wider and move a bit to let us in,
“My wife is setting up the dining table,” he says, eyes shifting to a lit up room I have a feeling is the dining room “You can head on there Amelia”
She laughed lightly, the sound airy and sweet. Instantly I am hit with the familiarity of my mother and a wave of sadness hit me heavily.
I sucked in a sharp breath and bit my lower lip as I watch Emily giggle. There was something about her free friendly spirit that reminded me of my own mother and the sharp memory rattled me.
Needing a bit of space, I stuttered. “I–can I use your wash–room pl–ease?”
Emily’s eyes shift in worry. “Yes of course,” her brows draw as she instructed me on where to go. After thanking her, I began to walk away in the direction of the bathroom.
As I plod up the stairs, my fingers glide along the railing as I draw air into my lungs to calm my racing heart.
The images of my mother drenched in red- the last image I have of her stored in my head made me queasy. I picked up my pace, trying to remember Emily’s instructions to the bathroom.
Had she said first door to the right or left? I believe she said right.
My fingers clutch around the handle and open without knocking. Which was already my mistake. As I stumble into the room and close the door behind me and leaned against it with a heavy breath, that’s when I felt another presence in the room and the fog in my head slowly began to vanish.
My eyes scan up slowly, taking in wet toned legs, white towel, v up to six pack abs that pebble water drops dance on smooth looking skin. Up to a broad chest, sharp jaw and pink lips that curved into a smirk.
“Are you stalking me little spitfire?”
