Amelia’s pov

Pulse racing. Mind running. Breath hitching. Palms sweating. Tingles dancing.

I don’t get it. Why is he affecting me this way?

“You promised to leave me alone,” I managed to breathe out and wished I could showcase anger in them but they come out weak and shaky.

His eyes had that spark in them that made him not look human. However, I don’t feel fear. Instead I am tingling with intrigue as they danced on my face like a happy puppy who finally got his bone.

You should know better than to trust a wolf Amelia. Have you never read little red riding hood?” He tilted his head, a smirk lifting on his lips.

He was too close to me. And too warm. Too touchy. And too…too…too much of everything that was toxic for me.

I try to steady my breathing as his eyes pierced through mine. How had I missed the odd way he has stared at me before? It was almost wolfish hunger. Wolfish lust.

“I don’t read fairytales, I am not a child.” I try to not make my words come out shaky again and shift my head out of his hold. Raiden’s eyes darken as my words settle over us, and those blues turn into a tinge of color that made me gasp as they roamed my face e and down to my neck. “No, you’re definitely not a child Amelia,” his deep voice sends shivers down my spine.

My breath hitched and now I’m breathing too shallow and unsteadily. I need him away to think, to breathe properly. But before I could even roll the words in my tongue Raiden’s head is dipped to my neck and he makes that animal sound that made me stiffen.

“Step away.” I snipped, my pulse racing but unfortunately not of fear. “I don’t want someone like you close to me.”

Raiden’s breath is hot against the skin of my neck. He was too close. Too close. His proximity was a problem. Just the heat from his body brushing against mine was messing with my head.

“I don’t think,” Raiden’s shoulders tensed up as he applied pressure to the wall behind me. My pulse danced. “You really want that.”

Shove him. Push him away. Curse him out. You’ve done it before. Yet, I cannot bring myself to and my body betrays me by leaning more into his hold. I have this weak feeling. If only he could just step back.

“You don’t,” I swallowed every word, my throat running dry as his body heat kissed my skin. “Know what I want.” I managed to croak out and cleared my throat in embarrassment.

He pulled back slightly so he could level his gaze with mine. The intensity alone has me shuddering. “I don’t?” One brow sleek up in a cocky arch and I swore I could feel my heart in my belly

“I know your pulse is racing when I am near because I can hear it,” I shudder, biting into my lip when his finger drags along the vein, on that pulse on my neck His eyes darken as they fall to follow the trial of his finger as it curved on my collarbone.

I looked away, my throat aching with held up emotions. “I don’t need protecting. I can take care of myself. I can figure this thing on my own. I don’t need a pack of dogs behind me.”

“Too bad,” Raiden’s words made me bring my attention back to him in surprise. He smirked and shocked me when he lifted

me in his arms. “You don’t have that choice.”

I scream when he rush to the bathroom with me in his arms. “Raiden what the hell!” I screeched when he walked into the shower and opened the faucet. Cold water drench both of us in seconds and I cling to him in shock.

He chuckle.” Thought this was the perfect payback for calling me puppy. Besides we both need to cool down.” He presses against me and that’s when I felt the bulge against my stomach. His eyes danced wickedly when my eyes snapped to his in shock, mouth agape.

“What? Thought you were the only one desiring after the other?” That stupid cocky arched brow of his annoys me and I glared. “The least you can do is thank me for putting out that fire you are not ready for.”

I didn’t think it was possible for my mouth to slacken. My shock must amuse him a lot because his chuckle bounced off the walls. As he set me down on my feet, I am still frozen shock. “Want me to shampoo your hair?”

How can he go from being crude to now…so soft? I frowned. I hated not knowing the real him. Not being able to tell if he was being truthful or not. Shouldn’t he be a monster?
