Amelia’s pov
My breath catches in my throat and I spin to look at him. It’s the first time I have set my eyes on him since the last time I learned he was not my biological dad.
He looks like he hasn’t slept much, hair tousled and bags under his eyes. He looks like he hadn’t slept for months, and even his beard was growing thicker.
“What do you mean she was home last night?” Raiden hisses. “She was with me.”
Giovanni’s eyes which were on me, snapped to Raiden. He turns his neck in a way as if revealing it to Raiden. “Sorry Alpha, I just came to make sure.”
“Giovanni,” Bryson started. “What do you really mean? Amelia has been here the entire night. You were there, you saw she was still in the room when Raiden was passed down the title.”
Giovanni nods. “Yes, I know. But when I got home…” he drawls, his voice soft and confused. “She was in her room.

My heart jolts. This did not make any sense. Last night I was with Raiden, in his arms. I had not left this place since I found out all I knew was a lie.
How could this be?
How did he see me?
“Maybe it was someone else,” I finally spoke up, looking away from him. I had still not forgiven him for what he had done. Making me believe he was my father. Even though it wasn’t really his idea, just him participating in it was just as bad.
They made me believe a lie.
He shook his head. “It was you Amelia. Same hair, same eyes.”
The way he said it, so sure yet so shaken as if he couldn’t understand it himself made my heart drop into my stomach. The air around me suddenly shifted and got heavier.
We were all confused because I had not left this house. I hadn’t stepped foot out,
“I don’t understand,” I looked at Raiden as if hoping he’d have an explanation for this even though he looked just as confused
as I am.
“It was you,” Giovanni said, his voice now even more sure. “You were staring at the picture frame with your mom-
He stops when he realized his mistake. “With your aunt,” he corrected, looking ashamed that he had let that out. “You were standing there and-
“That’s impossible Giovanni,” Raiden cuts in “It couldn’t have been Amelia you saw. She was in my arms the entire night. We
were-
“Boning,” Damon adds in as he opens the door and re–enters the kitchen with Lester following behind him. “I can’t help but have overheard the conversation,” he clears his throat as he moves in further.
Heat crawls up my neck and settles on my cheeks as embarrassment swirls in my body. Damon had a knack for letting his intrusive thoughts out without a single care.
“And I would like to be one of the first witnesses to tell you uncle that indeed Amelia was here the entire night. Trust me, we could hear her and Raiden-
“Damon,” Bryson warns, his voice sharper than a blade
Damon lifts both of his hands in surrender, a cheeky grin on his mouth. “What? It’s the truth is it not?”

“Damon, enough,” Emily utters.
Damon humph when Lester pushes him toward one of the stools. “Sit down and shut up you big idiot.”
“Fine, fine, no one has a good sense of humor these days,” he grumbles and sits on the other side of me. Sending me a cheeky wink, he turns to his Giovani. “Uncle are you certain it was Amelia you saw? Did you by any chance had some wolfsbane-
Giovanni shook his head, cutting in while his eyes return to mine. “I know what I saw. It was her. It was Amelia. Only that,” his brows draw into a furrow of confusion.
“She smelt different.”
”
“Smelt different how?” Raiden questions, voice as tense as his body.
Giovanni shifted his gaze to his. “Like a werewolf and vampire. A hybrid.”
