Chapter 476
Carter’s gaze flickered slightly as he looked at Kelly. She avoided his eyes, maintaining a strained smile on her face. But the subtle flicker in her eyes betrayed her true emotions.
His expression darkened.
That look… was guilt. Could there be more to this than Kelly had let on?
Nate was about to speak again, but Carter cut him off.
“Enough. They’re both soaked through. Let’s not risk anyone catching a cold. We’ll talk later.”
Nate, naturally assuming Carter was showing concern for Kelly, sneered at Sharon. “You’re dead.”
With that, he scooped Kelly into his arms and walked away.
Watching them leave, Sharon turned to go as well.
But Carter stepped in front of her. “Change into dry clothes before you leave.”
“There’s no need,” she said coolly.
“You’ll catch a cold walking around like that.”
The familiar words made Sharon pause.
Before Kelly returned, her relationship with Carter had never been passionate, but it had at least been respectful. He wasn’t always cold. From time to time, he’d even show small gestures of concern.
She remembered clearly: one day, while picking up Theo from school, it had started to rain heavily. She shielded the boy as best as she could, getting completely drenched herself.
When they returned home, Carter had just gotten back from a business trip. Seeing her soaked, he’d said, “Go take a hot shower and change your clothes. Don’t catch a cold.”
At the time, that rare moment of care had touched her deeply. But now, there wasn’t even a ripple in her heart, only irony.
Sharon’s voice was flat. “It’s none of your business.”
She stepped around him to leave.
“Sharon,” Carter called out, trying to stop her again.
Sharon raised her head and said with a mocking smile, “Are you trying to get me to go back and play the recording, Mr. Biggs?”
His gaze faltered. His instinct to stop her froze mid-motion.
And in that brief hesitation, she was already gone.
Carter stood there, watching her walk away. He didn’t go after her.

Today’s rehearsal, she figured, was already a wash.
Sharon walked toward the exit, fiddling with her phone. It held damning evidence-proof that Kelly had tried to kill her.
The recording alone might not be enough for a courtroom conviction, but releasing it before the concert? That would strike a serious blow to Kelly’s reputation and credibility.

This trip… had been worth it.
Their concerts were scheduled for the same timeframe, both headlined with violin performances. Naturally, competition was
inevitable.
Sharon had never feared a fair fight. Healthy rivalry, to a musician, was often the catalyst for growth.
But Kelly wasn’t just a rival; she was someone who schemed, backstabbed, and tried to take everything that belonged to her.
And to that, Sharon wasn’t about to play nice.
If Kelly wanted to play dirty, she’d match her move for move.
Had Kelly been smart enough to steer clear of tricks, maybe Sharon would’ve let things be. But since she had been so kind as to hand her the leverage personally, Sharon wasn’t going to waste it.
Now the only question was when to release the recording.
Not yet. If she did it now, Carter and Nate would just suppress it.
She needed to wait, ideally, right when tickets for Kelly’s concert went on sale.
That way, the damage would be catastrophic.
Still… a faint thread of worry tugged at Sharon’s mind.
If Kelly and Nate didn’t intend to send her to prison, she had no reason to reveal the existence of the recording just yet. But now that Kelly knew the recording existed, she would definitely be on guard. 1
That said, Sharon doubted Kelly would dare tell Carter about it.
