“Theo, I will make your favorite snacks later, all right?”
Seeing Kelly, Theo politely greeted her. Then he glanced at Sharon beside him and lowered his voice. “Kelly, I’m going home with Mommy later.”
Only then did Kelly seem to notice Sharon’s presence. Her eyes filled with confusion.
“Oh, Sharon, you’re here too? Theo, why did you come here?”
Theo replied, “We came to visit Grandpa.’
“Grandpa?” Kelly’s eyes flickered slightly as she looked at Sharon in surprise. “You mean Sharon’s father?”
Sharon remained expressionless, offering no response.
Carter had no intention of elaborating either. “Kelly, I still have things to take care of. Let’s catch up another day.”
Kelly seemed like she wanted to say more, but Carter had already turned and strode toward his car.
Theo quickly said goodbye to her and followed him into the car.
Sharon didn’t spare Kelly a single glance as she turned and got in.
Left standing there, Kelly watched the car drive off, a cold glint surfacing in her eyes. She pulled out her phone and dialed a
number.
The call connected quickly, and a crisp, clear male voice came through the speaker. “Kelly, you’ve called me more in the past few days than in all the previous years combined.”
Kelly didn’t waste time with pleasantries. “I just saw Sharon. According to Theo, they came to visit his grandfather. Thomas, find out for me who exactly is living in this villa?”
Kelly knew that Sharon’s mother was Shayla. But Shayla had passed away years ago and posed no threat. Now, Sharon’s father had suddenly appeared…
Kelly stared at the grand and imposing villa in front of her, unease flickering in her eyes.
This villa’s location was even better than her own.
Someone who could easily afford a property like this was no ordinary person.
In the past, she hadn’t taken Sharon’s background seriously, assuming she came from a modest family. But after learning Sharon was Shayla’s daughter, she began to feel threatened.
Thomas didn’t question her. He simply chuckled and said, “Got it,” before hanging up.
About ten minutes later, Sharon received a call from Thomas.
“The villa belongs to the Kalen family.”
Kelly’s eyes widened in disbelief. “That’s impossible!”
Thomas offered a suggestion. “Why don’t you keep an eye on the place for a while? See if you can confirm whether it’s the Kalen family living there.”
He never got things wrong. His intel was always reliable.
Kelly drew in a deep breath, trying to calm herself. “Maybe… maybe Theo just made a mistake.”

But if Theo’s grandfather was Richard…
Then that would make Sharon… Richard’s daughter?
Kelly couldn’t accept that possibility.
Thomas, however, processed the idea faster than she did.
“Sharon once mentioned studying in Marcentine, but there’s a gap of several years in her records. The Kalen family is based in Marcentine. I’m guessing those missing years were when she was living with them. Someone probably erased the traces.”
Raised among the scheming elite, Thomas understood all too well why the Kalen family would wipe any evidence of Sharon’s existence. It was all about reputation-keeping anything unpleasant under wraps.
Victoria was the Kalen family’s carefully cultivated prodigy. Even the slightest blemish could tarnish her image. Plenty of people were watching, just waiting to see the Kalen family stumble.
The higher she was praised, the harder she’d fall.
Kelly’s voice wavered on the other end of the line. The sound of her heavy breathing betrayed her unraveling composure.
