Chapter 581
“Carter, wipe your face first,” Kelly said.
But Carter shook his head. “Give the towel to Sharon. I’m fine.”
The smile on Kelly’s face stiffened for a brief second. Still, she quickly turned and handed the towel to Sharon.
“Sharon, dry off a little, or you’ll catch a cold.”
Sharon didn’t hesitate. She took the towel and replied flatly, “Thank you.”
She was completely soaked, and the towel barely helped. Now that she was seated inside the car, a chill crept over her.
She sneezed.
From the passenger seat, Kelly turned to her with concern. “Sharon, would you like to borrow a jacket?”
Sharon’s brows lifted slightly. If she remembered correctly, Kelly had been wearing a dress earlier in the competition venue.
That could only mean one thing…
Her gaze landed on Kelly, and sure enough, Kelly had on a man’s tailored suit jacket.
A faint, almost imperceptible smirk tugged at Sharon’s lips.
The rain had been too heavy, and her car had broken down-so when she first saw Carter, she hadn’t stopped to wonder what he was doing here.
Now it was clear. He had either dropped off Kelly and Maestro Warner or was here to pick them up.
Whatever the case, Sharon didn’t care to ask.
She looked at Kelly, who still wore her sugary smile, and said, “Sure.”
A flicker of darkness flashed through Kelly’s eyes as Sharon accepted yet another offer without hesitation.
She slipped off the jacket and turned to Carter with a sweet voice, “Carter, Sharon’s completely drenched. I’m giving her your jacket. You don’t mind, do you?”
“Of course not,” Carter said easily.
Kelly passed the jacket to Sharon, still smiling.
“Sharon, what a coincidence to see you here in this kind of weather. Were you here to see Maestro Warner again? If you had told me, I could’ve passed the message along for you. After all, we’re at least acquaintances. I’d hate for anything to happen to you out here–it would be my fault, and Maestro Warner’s too.”
At her words, Maestro Warner turned to glance at Sharon but remained silent.
Sharon spoke evenly, her tone laced with quiet irony. “Kelly, do you assume that every time Maestro Warner and I appear in the same place, I must be there to seek him out?”
She smiled faintly. “Maestro Warner has made it clear that he won’t be accepting any more students. I wouldn’t force the issue. You don’t have to be so guarded, Kelly. No one’s here to steal your teacher.”
Kelly’s expression faltered. “It seems I misunderstood you, Sharon.”
Just then, Carter broke the strange tension in the car.
“Sharon, what brings you here today?”

Sharon furned to her “Why? If you can compete, Lean’17”
“Oh, no, I didn’t mean it like that,” Kelly said quickly. “I just meant with your level of drill, surely someone world have recommended you straight into the main competition”
