Chapter 769
When it came to medicine, however, Sharon could never compare to someone like Uriah, who had practiced medicine his entire
life.
“Uriah was invited abroad recently to treat a patient,” Sharon explained. “I’ve already contacted him. Once he lands tomorrow,
he’ll come straight here to treat you.”
Thomas nodded in acknowledgment.
Sharon uncapped the ointment in her hand. A wave of herbal fragrance spread through the hospital room.
“How lovely,” Wendy praised. “Theo really put thought into this.”
Sharon smiled faintly and prepared to apply the ointment to Thomas’s wound. But then she noticed his gaze sharpen, fixed
intently on the jar in her hand.
“Sharon,” he said, “may I take a look at that ointment?”
Her brows drew together ever so slightly, but she passed the jar to him.
Thomas accepted it, first raising it to his nose, then dabbing a trace onto his fingertip to test its texture. His expression darkened.
Sensing something amiss, Wendy ventured cautiously, “Thomas, what’s wrong? Is there a problem with the medicine?”
“There is,” he said.
Sharon’s heart tightened. “What kind of problem? Don’t tell me… It’s poisoned?”
Her mind leapt to suspicion. Could Kelly have given this to Theo? Had she laced it with poison?
After testing it several more times, Thomas finally lifted his gaze.
“Calling it poison wouldn’t be accurate. In fact, this ointment does stop bleeding and promotes healing. But there’s one ingredient
that should never have been added—it serves no purpose other than leaving a permanent scar.” ↑
He handed the jar back to Sharon, his expression unreadable, his tone laced with subtle weight.
“Without that ingredient, the ointment would work just as well.”
Wendy froze in shock. “Wait… then why add it? Do they want Sharon to scar? Or… did Theo make this himself and add the wrong thing by mistake?”
“That, I cannot say,” Thomas replied calmly. “Of course, if you have doubts, you can wait until Uriah arrives. He will know for
certain.”
Sharon stared at the jar in her palm, her expression clouded with thought.

Wendy, however, suddenly caught on to something and turned to Thomas in surprise.
“Thomas, you know medicine?”
“Only a little,” he said. “Mainly how to recognize poisonous compounds.”
Wendy gaped. “Poison? Why on earth would you study something like that?”
“So I don’t end up poisoned without even knowing why,” he said matter-of-factly.
Her eyes widened. “Poisoned to death?!”
The words startled her so much she let out a laugh. “Thomas, honestly, what goes on in that head of yours? Poisoned to death? You’ve been watching too many movies lately, haven’t you?”
After all, he had spent his long hospital stay passing time with films and video games. She was certain he was joking.
Thomas didn’t explain further. He merely turned to Sharon. “Sharon, I suggest you stop using this ointment. A scar wouldn’t be
worth it.”
Sharon considered his words, then nodded. “Alright.”
The next day, Uriah went straight to the hospital upon landing.
He had heard about Damien’s troubles, but he remained unconcerned. His children and grandchildren had their own fates to
contend with; his heart was calm.
After examining Thomas thoroughly, he said, “Your internal injuries are serious, but fortunately, your vital organs are unharmed.
I’ll prescribe a few decoctions. Take them first, then come see me for a follow-up.”
“Thank you, Mr. Malcolm,” Sharon said gratefully.
He waved off her formality, his spirits unshaken by recent events. “I’m your mentor. There’s no need to thank me.”
After hesitating for a moment, Sharon took out the ointment and showed it to Uriah.
“Could you take a look at this for me?”
He accepted it casually. At first, his expression remained neutral.
But slowly, his brows began to furrow.
