Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 208

Sunny couldn’t help thinking that she never should have come tonight.

The minute she got home, she’d have a serious talk with her boss about this. Hadn’t she already said she was done with these blind dates? And yet here she was—roped into another one.

Austin seemed to pick up on her discomfort. With a calm, reassuring tone, he said, “Don’t mind them. They’re just messing around. So, are you in criminal defense too?”

Sunny shook her head. “Prosecutor Sheffield, I work in civil law. I also handle some corporate non-litigation matters.”

Austin took in her youthful appearance and impressive résumé, and found himself even more intrigued.

“I’m really not that much older than you. Just call me by my first name, or Austin, if you prefer. My cousin calls me that, too.”

Sunny felt awkward. No way, she thought. Now he wants me to call him ‘big bro’ or something?

Her polite smile was starting to falter when, suddenly, a cool, emotionless voice drifted from behind her.

“Attorney Glenn. What a coincidence—company outing tonight?”

Sunny’s head snapped up. The moment she met those icy eyes, her heart skipped a beat.

“Mr. Lawson?” Wyatt immediately stood, clearly surprised. “Mr. Lawson! Not exactly a company event—just a get-together with some colleagues, that’s all.”

Wyatt grinned, trying to lighten the mood. “You guys are in luck. This is Mr. Lawson, CEO of Lawson Corporation. Mr. Lawson, these are some of my law school friends—they’re all attorneys too!”

Mr. Davis and Mr. Cooper quickly got to their feet. Everyone had heard of Lawson Corporation, and Stellan Lawson’s striking, cold features were instantly recognizable, though none of them had ever interacted with him up close before.

“Mr. Lawson, it’s an honor to meet you!”

“We’ve heard great things, sir!”

Sunny sat frozen. What on earth was he doing here?
