Tempted Trapped and Too Late to Run novel Chapter 875

“Idiot? Freak?”

Clara squeezed her eyes shut, trying to wrap her head around how reckless Dylan had been.

She was almost asleep when Charles’s low voice broke the silence. “Sis, I’m serious. That factory’s a whole mess. The owner? He’s been wanted by multiple countries for years. You know why he can keep hiding out here and running such a huge operation? Someone powerful has his back. With those drugs, he’s built connections everywhere. The Nielson family’s ranked top five in all of North America. That Jules guy—sure, he’s always sick, but he’s surrounded by a bunch of bodyguards who’d die for him. I’d bet most of them come here to get their supplies. In North America, people say he’s nuts. If anyone crosses him, he sends his men after them. They’re ruthless—if any of his guys get caught, they just take themselves out. No evidence, no loose ends. Everyone knows it’s him, but no one can prove a thing. It’s infuriating.”

Clara listened, and the more she heard, the more she realized just how cold-blooded Jules really was. Losing that many loyal men every time he wanted someone gone? No wonder he was after that experimental weapon. It was the ultimate trump card.

She couldn’t help worrying about Dylan.

Charles leaned back, closing his eyes. “Dylan’s probably still out there searching for you. Let’s rest up a bit, then go find him.”

Clara nodded, but the worry in her chest only grew heavier.

By sunrise, the three of them were on the move.

Milo and Buddy led the way, darting ahead.

Now that they’d recovered, they could finally keep up.

The experimental subject followed Clara everywhere, clinging to her like a shadow.
