The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 104

She simply smiled at Wesley. "Things will get better for us from now on."

Wesley nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah!"

Later that afternoon, Winona received a call from the courthouse.

"Ms. Perkins, the two-month public notice period for your divorce application has ended. If you haven't changed your mind, we'll be sending the summons to your husband, Mr. Julian, very soon."

Winona felt a wave of relief at the news.

Two whole months.

She had tried to contact Julian countless times, but to no avail.

Now, she could finally file for divorce.

It felt so good.

After calling Winona, the court official hesitated. Julian was, after all, a prominent figure in Greenwood City. It seemed only fair to give him a heads-up, so he wouldn't be caught off guard. But the official didn't have Julian's personal number, so he dialed the main line to Julian's office instead.

Gideon picked up.

When he heard it was the courthouse, Gideon barely batted an eye. The Nicholson Group was a massive company, always tangled up in one legal dispute or another. "Just follow the standard procedure," he said casually, and hung up.

He didn't bother mentioning the call to Mr. Nicholson.

Mr. Nicholson was far too busy today.

He hadn't even set foot in the company. Instead, he was at the hospital, looking after his mother, Janetta.

The night before, right after the Shepherd family's birthday banquet, Julian hadn't even made it home when the hospital called.

His mother, Janetta, had fallen ill from exhaustion while taking care of Tiana.

Julian rushed straight to the hospital.

It was only when he saw his mother that he learned Tiana hadn't been eating for the past few days. The little girl's appetite had vanished, her stomach growing weaker, and her fever came and went.
