Mia suddenly choked up. "Nona, I swear, from now on I'll work hard, no more fighting with people, no more flying off the handle. I'll help you take care of Zane, and look after your old grandma too…"

She was crying even more wretchedly than Winona, her tears a messy, noisy torrent. Yet, even as she promised to behave, she couldn't stop herself from muttering a steady stream of curses about Julian under her breath.

When her phone suddenly rang, she didn't even bother to check the caller ID. She just hit answer and launched straight into a tirade, "Julian, go to hell! Fuck your father! Why don't you do the world a favor and throw yourself in a septic tank? If you're so desperate for blood, why don't you use your own to save your nephew? You selfish bastard!"

With a loud "slam," she hung up. Then she powered off her phone.

She had no intention of letting Julian get a word in. Let him stew!

Winona raised an eyebrow at her. "Mia, fuck his father? The guy's old enough to be your father. Isn't it a little gross?"

Mia sniffed and waved her off. "Old? He's only fifty! I'm eight years older than you, so there's barely a decade between us. If I really did end up with his dad, I'd at least walk away with a fortune—maybe even piss off that conniving old lady of yours. Two birds, one stone."

Winona just stared at her.

Well, whatever!

She figured Julian would be choking with rage after Mia's outburst. Maybe this would finally push him to sign the divorce papers.

What Winona didn't know was that the call hadn't even gone to Julian—it was Shera on the other end.

If Winona had been anywhere near Shera at that moment, Shera probably would've tied her up and dragged her back, with no regard for Winona's family or friends.

Shera's face was red with fury. "Winona is just vicious! She won't lift a finger to help Victor, and now she's got her loudmouth friend insulting me! I'm going to make sure Julian divorces her! But what about Victor? What are we supposed to do?"
