The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 209

Julian's gaze was steely as he looked at Shera.

He opened his mouth as if to speak, but nothing came out.

Shera hadn't always been this hysterical. But ever since Victor's illness had gone from bad to worse, it had worn her down so much that not a trace of her former poise remained.

"From now on, stop thinking about using Winona's blood," Julian said after a long, heavy silence.

Shera shot to her feet, her voice shrill with frustration. "And what do you expect me to do—use someone else's? Those blood packs from the hospitals, I never trust them. Who knows what diseases they could carry, or how old they are? I just want Winona's blood, that's all!"

She glared at Julian. "What's the matter? Has Winona grown so defiant that she won't even give Victor her blood anymore? You've been ignoring her for two months now—hasn't she learned her lesson yet? If she hasn't, then fine! We'll just pay her, a thousand dollars a month if that's what it takes!"

A small, innocent voice piped up behind Julian. "Dad… why are you giving Mom a thousand dollars?"

He turned around and saw Tiana standing there, her hand held gently by Felicity.

Felicity offered a soft smile. "I heard Victor's taken a turn for the worse, and figured things would be hectic at home, so I picked Tiana up from school. When she found out Victor was sick again, she got worried. We both decided to come over."

Noticing the redness around Shera's eyes, Felicity asked, "Shera, how is Victor? Is he stable? Do you still need blood? Oh, I wish I had the rare blood type you need—if I did, I'd give every last drop for Victor, I really would. It breaks my heart to see a ten-year-old go through so much."
