The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 46

At that moment, Janetta stepped in front of Felicity and Tiana, shielding them with a protective stance.

She looked down at Winona, her tone icy. "Winona, you used my grandson's illness to manipulate Julian! When you saw he wasn't falling for your tricks, you tried every desperate move you could think of to worm your way back in. Do you really believe the Nicholson family would ever let you return?"

Mia immediately fired back, not missing a beat. "What are you talking about? Nona's been wanting to divorce Julian for ages—she made up her mind a long time ago! It's Julian who's been dragging his feet and refusing to sign!"

Shera let out a harsh, mocking laugh. "Are you out of your mind?" She sneered at Mia, her words dripping with venom. "Who even let this trash in here? You look like you belong in some sleazy bar. I bet you're just desperate to marry into money, and now that nobody wants you, you lash out instead. How did a woman like you even make it into a place this upscale? You reek of cheap perfume—it's disgusting."

Mia looked like she was one second away from pulling Shera's hair out. She might have been loud and brash most days, but at heart, Mia was hopelessly straightforward—utterly incapable of playing mind games. Confronted with this, she only knew how to defend herself, getting so worked up she nearly gave herself a headache.

"Winona really is divorcing Julian!" she insisted, voice shaking with frustration.

"Oh really? Where's your proof?" Shera shot back. "Has she even shown a divorce agreement? She claims she wants a divorce, but she trails after Julian to the club, pesters him at his office, follows him to the hospital, blows up his phone all night long, and even ambushes him at home. All of that is fact."

Shera's resentment toward Winona for refusing to help her son was no secret, and it colored every word she spat out. "Winona, ever since you tried to use my son's illness against Julian, you've been digging your own grave. A woman like you—if you really wanted to leave Julian, the sun would rise in the west. But Julian? He genuinely wants you gone."

Winona merely offered a serene smile. "Fine by me."

She took Mia's arm and began to walk away.

After all, she'd already mailed her divorce papers to the court. That alone was ironclad evidence. Once the waiting period was over, Julian would receive the official notice of their divorce.

Shera, still furious at Winona for refusing to be a donor for her son, nearly exploded when she saw Winona's calm indifference. "Stop pretending, Winona! You're the one clinging to my brother, not the other way around! Julian's the one begging for a divorce!"
