Winona never imagined Julian would actually go so far—buying out the entire venue just to force them out.
He didn't raise his voice or lose his temper. Yet, the cold certainty in his eyes was unmistakable, as if he didn't even know them. To him, they were nothing more than troublemakers causing a scene on the street.
Winona's voice trembled. "Julian, remember that time you had acute gastritis? You were so dehydrated the doctor said you could only have liquids. Tiana couldn't even walk yet—I had to carry her and watch your IV at the same time. I was the one who asked Mia to bring you soup. Did you really just pretend none of that happened?"
Julian acted as if he hadn't heard a thing. His brows remained tightly drawn as he looked past her to the security staff.
The head of security arrived with the hotel manager, both approaching Julian with utmost deference.
"Mr. Nicholson, is there anything we can do for you?" the manager asked, his tone respectful.
Julian's face was expressionless as he spoke. "I'm renting out the entire hotel. The Nicholson family will cover all expenses. Please escort these two women out."
The manager hesitated, stunned into silence.
Julian's eyes narrowed. "Is there a problem?"
The manager finally responded, "Mr. Nicholson, Ms. Perkins reserved a private room upstairs a week ago. They're not interfering with the main ballroom—"
"Cancel their reservation. I'll pay ten times the price," Julian interrupted, his voice brooking no argument.
The manager didn't dare protest further. He couldn't afford to cross Julian. Resigned, he turned to Winona and Mia. "I'm truly sorry, but you'll need to choose another venue."
Winona's heart pounded. "You can't do this!"
She'd already promised Zane. This was his first birthday since leaving the recovery center—he'd been looking forward to it for so long. He'd finally started at a regular preschool, made friends, and invited them all to celebrate with him. They were coming straight from class—how could she possibly find another place and set everything up at the last minute?
