THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 475

Of course Caitlin noticed Katrina’s foot.

She knew Katrina was doing it on purpose.

The weather in Neon Spire was gorgeous—temperatures had already hit 77 degrees.

So today, she wore the pink dress Hannah had bought her a while back. It was beautiful, with a bit of a princess vibe. The skirt wasn’t exactly short, but if she tripped, she’d definitely end up in an awkward heap.

And with so many people crowded onto the plane…

She’d be the center of attention, like some kind of sideshow.

But that’s just how Caitlin was—she drew clear lines between friend and foe. Since Katrina was so eager to see her humiliated, Caitlin had no intention of letting her down.

Which was why her retaliatory step, just now, wasn’t the slightest bit gentle.

Katrina, who’d been waiting for Caitlin to make a fool of herself, was completely unprepared for Caitlin’s foot to come down—hard—right on top of hers.

The pain shot up her leg; for a second, Katrina was convinced her foot might actually be broken.

It hurt. It hurt so much.

That little witch actually stepped on her! Deliberately!

Caitlin had to have done it on purpose.

Yet Caitlin just kept walking down the aisle, as if nothing had happened.

Furious, Katrina leapt up and shouted after her, “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

Caitlin glanced over her shoulder, feigning confusion. “Did what on purpose?”

The more innocent Caitlin looked, the more convinced Katrina became that it was all deliberate. Fighting through the pain, she snapped, “You stepped on my foot on purpose. I want you to apologize right now!”

An apology was the least of what she wanted. If she weren’t worried about missing her flight to Neon Spire, Katrina would have called the police right then and there, had Caitlin hauled off in handcuffs, and left her in a cell for a few days.

All the commotion quickly drew the attention of the business class passengers. Heads turned, and a buzz of whispered conversation filled the cabin.

“Who’d have thought that girl in the pink dress, looking so sweet, would act like that? She stepped on someone and won’t even apologize.”

“Exactly! Unbelievable.”

“Some people have no manners at all.”

No one bothered to lower their voices. Caitlin heard every word.

Still, she seemed completely unfazed. Her refined, porcelain-pale face didn’t betray the slightest flicker of emotion.

Katrina, on the other hand, basked in the support of the crowd, her expression growing more smug by the second.

All she had to do now was wait for Caitlin to apologize.

Then Caitlin spoke, her voice calm and clear. “Actually, ma’am, let me correct you. It was your foot that ran into mine, not the other way around. The attendants reminded everyone several times to keep your legs out of the aisle when people are boarding. But when you saw me coming, you stuck your leg out anyway. Tell me, who’s the one being deliberate here?”

“That’s— That’s ridiculous! Why would I stick my leg out into the aisle on purpose? What am I, a masochist?”

Caitlin gave a slight smile—she really was stunning when she smiled—and her words rang out, each one crisp and undeniable. “You’re not a masochist. You just wanted to trip me up and watch me embarrass myself.”
