But she had never tasted a fish soup so delicious.
"The duck is excellent, too." Caitlin used the serving utensils to place a piece of duck leg on her plate.
Celia took a bite. The skin was perfectly crisp, giving way to tender, juicy meat that was firm but not dry. It was heavenly.
"Delicious! This is delicious, too!"
"I never knew Eldermere had food this good!"
"Freya, you're an absolute treasure!"
After lunch, Caitlin took Celia back to her hotel.
In the car, Celia logged into Instagram and posted a new story.
[Had the best day with my best friend! So, so happy~ [Photo.jpg]]
The first thing Jennifer saw when she unlocked her phone was Celia's post.
A cynical sneer crossed her face as she looked at the photo.
Best friend?
Although Celia had used a small flower emoji to cover half of Caitlin's face, Jennifer recognized her instantly. It was Caitlin.
How ridiculous.
Absolutely pathetic.
In all the years they had been together, Celia had never once posted about her.
But now, she was declaring Caitlin her best friend to the world.
What did that make her?
What was any of it for?
She had been hesitating about taking the prescription.
But now…
There was no need to hesitate anymore.
Jennifer took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm as she continued her search through Celia's room.
She scoured every corner but couldn't find the prescription. Then, an idea struck her. She remembered Celia saying she wanted to keep the prescription Caitlin had given her somewhere safe.
Could it be…
In the safe?
Celia had a habit of storing important items in her safe.
With that thought, Jennifer went to the closet, opened the door, and found the safe. She quickly keyed in a sequence of numbers.
Beep.
Incorrect code.
Incorrect?
Jennifer froze, her eyes widening. "How can it be wrong?!"
She had grown up with Celia.
She knew all of her passwords, including the one for the safe.
But now…
Celia had changed it.
That meant Celia was already wary of her.
It didn't take a genius to figure out who was behind it. Caitlin must have been whispering in her ear, turning her against her.
Otherwise, why would Celia suddenly change her password?
