"Mom," Gavin's voice came through, weary. He was already on a high-speed train heading south. "Our problems didn't just start yesterday. The decision to divorce wasn't made on a whim. I hope you can understand."

Though he was done with Amanda, Gavin still held a great deal of respect for Keira.

She was a sensible and fair elder.

"Gavin, Ann is in her twenties now. You two have spent more than two decades together. This sudden divorce… I just can't accept it. If Amanda has done something wrong, I, as her mother, can apologize on her behalf. You know her personality…"

Keira desperately wanted to save her daughter's marriage, but before she could finish, Amanda snatched the phone from her hand.

Back at the Gonzales family estate, Keira stared at the phone Amanda had taken, her anger rising. "Amanda! Give me back that phone! You need to apologize to Gavin right now. Give him a way out, and maybe you two can still reconcile! Don't burn this bridge completely."

As a mother, Keira couldn't bear to watch her daughter self-destruct.

"Reconcile? Me, give *him* a way out?" The suggestion made Amanda erupt. "Mom, let me be clear. Even if Gavin got on his knees and begged me right now, I would never take him back!"

The thought of her begging him was beyond absurd.

It was a dream.

Keira's face was grim. "Amanda! If you don't try to fix this now, you'll lose your chance for good."

Keira knew Gavin. If Amanda went to him now, right after the divorce, he might still have a change of heart.

But if Amanda remained stubborn, their marriage was well and truly over.
