The elder was flipping through the contract, each page stirring up more turmoil inside him. He snapped it shut, leaning against the conference table, his fingers gripping tightly. He could barely believe what he was seeing.
They’d assigned Miss Mira the Ravenshade task, banking on the complex forces behind it, sure she wouldn’t seal the deal quickly. But to their shock, not only did she sign it, but she also added extra projects, practically gifting them to the Davis family.
The elder couldn't pinpoint where things went off track, but he sensed things slipping beyond their control. Next to him, Jaime noticed his troubled expression and grabbed the contract to have a look.
"This contract..." Jaime was just as stunned, but seeing the signatures and seals, he couldn't bring himself to say it was fake.
"Mr. Jaime, is there an issue with the contract?" Reid asked, feigning surprise.
Jaime stiffened slightly, then set the contract down. "Seems like it's all in order."
"Great," Reid said, exhaling as though relieved. "I thought you might have objections."
