The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1865

Penelope sat there, perfectly still, until the room's attention zeroed in on her. Only then did she rise slowly, turning her gaze not to Jaime, but directly to Jim.

With a touch of respect, she nodded slightly, saying, "Sir."

The simple word "Sir" made Jaime's face change instantly. Before he could even begin to puzzle out what it meant, Penelope walked over to the head of the conference table and pulled out the chair for Jim with great care.

Jim took his seat at the head, while Penelope stood straight by his side, not bothering to return to her own chair. The scene was all too familiar, echoing the days when she'd stand by him during business dealings.

Jaime and the other senior members' expressions soured at this sight.

"What are you doing, Penelope?" Jaime snapped, finally pulling himself together.

Penelope lifted her gaze to meet Jaime's piercing eyes, her expression calm and composed. "Uncle, what would you have me do?"

Jaime stared at her, realizing he had completely underestimated her. The pride and dignity he thought defined her were nothing but a front. This was the real Penelope.

In that moment, Jaime had a chilling revelation: "You’ve been playing us all along, working for Sir!"

Penelope's lips curled into a slight smile. "Playing pretend? Not as well as you did, or my father wouldn’t have ended up like he did."

Her voice was gentle yet laced with deep-seated bitterness.

Mentioning Penelope’s father made Jaime and the senior members visibly squirm.

"Do you have any idea what it's like to watch your family fall right in front of you?" Penelope's eyes were icy, her long-suppressed anger threatening to burst forth.

Sensing this fierce hatred, Jaime dropped any pretense, sneering, "Blame your father for his blind loyalty. But now I see, like father, like daughter. If you're so eager, then join him."

With that, Jaime signaled for a nearby armed guard to act. But despite being armed, the guard didn’t budge.

Jaime’s eyes widened in surprise, an overlooked fear growing until Penelope spoke again.

"I'm afraid you'll be disappointed," she chuckled, a hint of irony in her voice. "I should thank you for your support; otherwise, this wouldn’t have wrapped up so quickly."

She tilted her head slightly, and in the next moment, the guns that had been aimed at the other senior members were now targeting Jaime and his group.

The switch was so sudden that it caught not only Jaime but also the other leaders completely off guard.

In no time, Jaime and his allies were disarmed, their weapons swiftly collected.

"The entire organization is ours now. If you dare touch me, none of you will leave this building alive," Jaime threatened, his face twisted with rage.

Grady looked at Jaime almost pityingly. "How sure are you that those you planted in the organization are still on your side?"
