Lucille felt even more at a loss.
In her over twenty years of life, no one had ever said such things to her. Never.
“If anyone bullies you, tell me, I’ll help.”
Like a character only in TV dramas and novels, dreamlike.
But now she’s an adult, learned to protect herself, even protect those around her.
So she still said thanks to this brother she met for the first time.
Robert was here to take Aunt Emily home. He stayed in another room at the same hotel, while Lucille stayed with Aunt Emily.
In a king–size bed room, Lucille and Aunt Emily lay side by side on pillows, talking about family matters, why they brought grandma to Capital City temporarily.
Perhaps because it was Aunt Emily in front of her, talking about her parents and Tristen, she couldn’t help but feel her nose tingle.
“It’s okay, don’t be afraid. When are you going back?”
“This time, I plan to have Robert go back with you, help with grandma’s visa, and bring grandma over together. Such a big thing, can’t let a young girl handle it alone.”
Saying this, she hugged Lucille, “You have an aunt now, don’t be afraid…”
Emily had a faint fragrance. Lucille didn’t know what perfume it was, but it smelled nice. Being hugged like this by her aunt, she wanted to cry even more–it was the embrace she imagined as a child from her mother.
She never enjoyed this with her biological mother, but at the age of almost thirty, she felt it with her aunt.
After just a few days together, she was reluctant to part with Aunt Emily.
But luckily, she’ll see Aunt Emily again soon, just over a month.
At parting, Robert gave a gift to the whole troupe–everyone got one. He told each person he was Lucille’s brother, thanking them for taking care of her.
Linda later came up to her and said, “Wow, your brother is generous! The gifts he gave each of us aren’t cheap, and there are so many in our troupe!”
Actually, Lucille still didn’t know what this brother did. They met briefly last night, no time to chat.

As for before, she heard Aunt Emily brought Robert back once, before she was born. Anyway, it wasn’t pleasant, and later, Aunt Emily never brought Robert back again.
“Lucille, Aunt Emily and I are leaving first. At the last stop, I’ll pick you up.”
As Robert got in the car to the airport, he said to her.
“Okay, bye brother, bye Aunt Emily.”
Lucille waved goodbye, packed her things, got in the car, and headed to the next stop.
Unknowingly, the tour time was half over.
The troupe continued to travel through three countries.
During this time, Lucille’s daily life was the same: rehab, assisting the troupe’s logistics, and video calling grandma.
Video calling Grandma was part of Lucille’s daily routine. Only after seeing Grandma safe and sound could she feel at ease. But after a week, she sensed something amiss–Grandma seemed thinner.
“Grandma, you’ve lost weight,” Lucille asked, her voice laced with concern.
Grandma chuckled, “Really? I’m perfectly fine. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing Community Line Dance down- stairs with the other ladies lately. Movement helps shed pounds.”
“I see…” Lucille remained uneasy.
“Lulu, movement keeps us healthy. Staying cooped up inside all day is suffocating. Don’t worry about me—I’m doing great! They say you can’t buy health in old age. Weight loss doesn’t matter as long as I’m healthy,” Grandma reas- sured her repeatedly.
Lucille agreed it wasn’t right to keep Grandma isolated indoors. Dancing and making friends with other seniors sounded ideal. Yet being far away made her overthink. Eventually, she asked Aydan if his sister Olivia could check on Grandma.
Aydan contacted Olivia immediately. That same day, Olivia visited Grandma at the address Aydan provided and re- ported back: “Grandma’s home and doing well. I’ll visit her every few days.”
Only then did Lucille feel some relief.
Over the following week, Lucille continued daily video calls. Olivia visited twice more, mentioning only that Grand- ma complained about the heat affecting her appetite–no other issues.
Still, Lucille felt restless and uneasy.
As the tour approached its final city, she messaged Grandma about her imminent return and arrival time in Capital City.
