Chapter 279
Cedrick didn’t get a response from Lucille, but he did get the return of Robert.
The moment Robert appeared, Cedrick was fuming and rushed forward to attack.
But with so many well–trained bodyguards around, how could they let him succeed?
Cedrick didn’t even touch the hem of Robert’s clothes before he was restrained by the bodyguards.
Robert walked straight toward the elevator and waved his hand. “Let him go, let him go. This is a hospital. Don’t scare the patients and their families.”
Cedrick could only watch as Robert got into the elevator. The crucial part was that Robert never even glanced at him from beginning to end, as if he were nothing more than a speck of dust, not even worth a look. If he happened to land on him, the man would just brush his sleeve and flick him away like dirt.
This made him furious.
Who the hell was this guy?
What gave him the right to be so dismissive?
Cedrick’s anger still hadn’t subsided by the time he returned to the company.
On the way to his office, Harlan noticed he didn’t look well and asked what was wrong. It was only then that Cedrick suddenly remembered, turned to Harlan, and said, “Do you know who that man with Lucille is?”
Harlan actually knew everything.
He knew Lucille was back, he knew what those trashy people from the Radford family had done, and he knew a powerful man was helping her. But Cedrick had never told him any of this, so he had to pretend he didn’t know.
So, when Cedrick saw Harlan’s blank expression, he pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m all mixed up. Right, Lucille is back, and there’s a man with her. Can you find out who he is?”
Harlan didn’t know.
Maricela had described this man to him many times, how terrifying he was, but she hadn’t even

gotten a clear look at him, so how could Harlan know who it was?
“I’ll look into it.
Harlan said.
Cedrick nodded, returned to his office, and closed the door.
Harlan came looking for Cedrick in the evening.

The office door was still closed, and his calls weren’t going through. Harlan had to knock, but there was no answer from inside. If it were anyone else, they wouldn’t have dared to intrude, but Harlan was different. He and Cedrick had been like brothers for years, so he just unlocked the door and went straight in.
As it turned out, the room was thick with smoke.
The whole room reeked of smoke!
Even a heavy smoker like Harlan couldn’t stand it. He coughed several times before going to open
the window.
“What in the world is wrong with you?”
Harlan said to him, “Are you trying to kill yourself, smoking like this?”
Cedrick didn’t say a word, as if he were nailed to his office chair.
Harlan walked around to face him again. “Cedrick, what on earth is wrong with you?”
A face suddenly loomed in front of him, and Cedrick snapped out of his daze. “Harlan…” he mumbled, then leaned his head back against the chair, his brow furrowed.
“What’s really going on?”
Harlan said, “Just tell me what’s wrong. Is there anything we guys can’t handle together?”
After a long silence, Cedrick finally said, “Lucille is back.”
