Chapter 336
Over time, he grew more and more afraid of going home, and would always dawdle until the middle of the night before returning.
He had many excuses: hanging out with his buddies, entertaining clients, but the most common one was being busy with work.
He was indeed busy with work most of the time, often working overtime at the company late into the night by himself.
But no matter how late it was, he always had a direction in his heart–home.
Whether it was out of responsibility or something else, going home every night was as programmed as his work.
But now, the house was still there, yet he didn’t know where to go after leaving the office.
He always told himself that being good to Lucille for a lifetime was his responsibility, but he himself didn’t know when it had become more than just a responsibility.
It turned out that when the girl who always smiled at him like a sunflower was no longer in this house, home was no longer home, and going home had become meaningless…
But she had clearly promised him that for richer or for poorer, she would never leave him. She had clearly promised him that no matter how late he came home, she would leave a light on for him…
He really thought that this light would shine on him forever, and so, step by step, he pushed his luck, and in the end, he was the one who snuffed it out with his own hands…
In an instant, a thousand thoughts flooded his mind.
But Harlan came up and put an arm around his shoulder. “Come on, you’re a lonely man now anyway. Let’s go have some fun, just us guys.”
“Where are you guys going?
Don’t even think about including me. I’m going home. Zoe is pregnant, and I need to go back and be with her.”
David gathered his things, getting ready to go home.

Harlan tsked. “You said it yourself, your wife is pregnant, not you. You’re acting like you’re the one with the big belly!”
But David left with his folder. “I’m not talking to you guys anymore. I’ve got to get home for
dinner.”
“Let’s go.”
Harlan pulled Cedrick along.
“Where are we going?”
Cedrick frowned.
“Out to have some fun!
Drinking, maybe find a few girls to sing with.”
Cedrick pulled his hand away. “I’m not going.”
“You’re such a prude!”
Harlan said, “You wouldn’t go to these places before because of Lucille. Now that you’re divorced, you still won’t go?
What’s the point?
What’s the point of making money?
It’s for women and wine!
Otherwise, are you just going to make all this money to count it for fun?”
Cedrick shook his head and sighed. “You… you should hurry up and find Nicole, see where she went. Don’t end up like me, full of regrets.”
“No way!”
Harlan waved his hand dismissively. “If you’re not going, I’ll go by myself!
You’re no fun!”
Harlan and a few middle–aged men spent a wild night in the city’s neon lights, with women on their arms,
lost in extravagance. When he came out, his phone rang, and he realized his mom had
called him a dozen times.
