Cedrick’s voice came from behind Lucille.
Lucille was standing two steps in front of him, but Cedrick didn’t realize the woman in the apricot dress was his wife and walked straight toward Maricela.
Only when he noticed Harlan and Maricela’s gazes fixed in the same direction did he turn around.
“Lucille!”
Shocked, Cedrick quickly regained composure. “You found your way here?
If you’d said you wanted to come earlier, I could have arranged an extra invitation.”
His words carried a faint reproach only Lucille could detect: You didn’t answer my calls, blocked me, and now you show up here on your own?
Harlan, firmly on Maricela’s side, immediately said, “Cedrick, it’s our first time dealing with Mr. Zheng; it wouldn’t be good to be presumptuous.‘

The implication was clearly not to let Lucille in!
From afar, Lucille had already seen Aydan coming out. She was about to say she didn’t intend to go in with them, but before she could, Maricela interrupted, “Cedrick, maybe I shouldn’t go?
Let Lucille use my invitation to go in.”
Hah, here we go again.
“No need.”
Lucille looked toward Aydan and said, “I’ll go in myself.”
Maricela grabbed her arm. “Lucille, sister–in–law, don’t. People will laugh at Cedrick if you do this. Take mine; I won’t go.”
Lucille laughed. “No, I never said I wanted to go with you from start to finish, did I?
Rest assured, even if you say you’re Cedrick’s mother today, I won’t expose you. I don’t know you; I’ll stay far away, okay?”
“Lucille!”
Cedrick’s face darkened. “What are you saying?”
“Speaking human language!”

After saying that, Lucille smiled toward the front.
Cedrick looked and saw Aydan approaching from the front.
A girl came out with Aydan.
“Lucille, I’m my brother’s sister.”
The girl familiarly linked arms with Lucille.

Actually, this was Aydan’s thoughtful gesture. Considering Lucille’s foot injury and fearing she might be uneasy, he’d asked his sister to support her. Only, the girl’s self–introduction was rather amusing-“I’m my brother’s sister“?
Lucille couldn’t help but laugh.
Aydan chuckled too.
Realizing her slip, the girl laughed. “I’m just so thrilled to meet you, Lucille–got me all tongue–tied! Come on, Lu- cille, let me take you inside.”
“Lucille!”
Cedrick called out to her.
Unfamiliar with Cedrick and the others, the girl asked Lucille, “Friends of yours, Lucille?”
Lucille glanced at Cedrick and snorted softly. “Not really.”
As you wished, I’m keeping my distance. Won’t ruin your plans.
