Mated to Two Bad Boy Alphas (Lia zane Blake) novel Chapter 288

Chapter 288 – Favour

–LIA’S POV–

Selene walked up to Zane, her steps slow. She placed her hand on his head, and without hesitation, he rose to his feet, like her touch alone had commanded it. Her hand slid down to cup his cheek, tender and fragile, very unlike the terrifying goddess I’d fought against just a few days ago.

“I should have come for you in the void,” she whispered, her voice breaking with regret. “Forgive me, my child.”

My heart tightened a little.

Zane’s eyes closed, his jaw set, but he leaned into her hand anyway. He didn’t respond with a single word, only gave the faintest nod, which was more than enough.

Her gaze shifted back to John, softening like it was the first time she had seen him. She wasn’t divine in that moment, wasn’t radiant or scary. She was just a woman standing before the man she’d always loved. Her lips trembled. “If I go back… will you still talk to me every night?”

John broke into a sob now, shoulders shaking, arms opening wide.

lad

clinging to him desperately. “Can I still visit?” she asked, voice muffled against his chest. “Once a month. Just once.”

“Yes,” John choked out, nodding, his face buried in her hair. “Yes–if you don’t disturb the humans.”

“I won’t,” she promised instantly.

And I believed her.

She drew back to catch her breath, and her eyes fell on Dad. He stood frozen, his body stiff, wide eyes fixed on her like none of this could be real.

“You will forget this,” Selene said, her tone no longer fragile but absolute. “You’ll go home, and wait for your wife. She’s visiting Lia for the last two weeks, and you’ve been living normally, as you would. That’s all you’ll remember.”

Dad blinked once. His trembling stopped. Slowly, he turned and walked away without another word.

Then her gaze landed on me.

For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. For the first time since she had revealed herself, she was the Moon Goddess I’d thought she would be.

She approached me, and reached for my hands and held them in

hers. I had the urge to pull them away, but resisted. Her touch was warm, but unsteady. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, eyes glassy. “For everything I caused. I know I’m not like the mothers you’ve known. I don’t expect forgiveness.”

My throat burned. I didn’t trust myself to speak, so I didn’t.

“But I swear,” she went on, her voice softer now, almost pleading, “I’ll watch over you for the rest of eternity. Thank you–for healing my heart again.”

I wasn’t ready to forgive. I didn’t know if I ever would be. But her words cracked something open in me, whether I wanted

them to or not.

She let go and took a step back, her eyes drifting once more to John. And then she spread her arms.

Light burst from her skin, flooding everything. I threw my arm over my face, but still felt the heat of it, the warmth of her goodbye pressing against me.

She lifted slowly, the glow carrying her higher and higher until she was gone. All that remained was radiance.

When the light finally dimmed, we all looked up. The old moon, pale and empty, faded into nothing. In its place, a new one rose–bright, alive, whole. Selene had taken her throne again.
